GMC Basketball 2018-2019

I need a another week or so to see the rosters for each school. Should be a good race for the GMC crown this year. I would think Lakota East and Hamilton should be favorites at this point

Hamilton has some talent. It will be interesting to see how they perform now that one of the worst bb coaches in history is no longer with the Big Blue Program. GMC has gradually gotten worse and worse every year. I expect Mason to make its way back to the top. Princeton lost a lot. East is always in the mix. Oak Hills, Sycamore, and Middletown will be bottom feeders once again.

Saw Princeton at the Lima mega scrimmage this past weekend. Vikings will be just fine. Lot of talent in the backcourt, lot of depth. Have the athleticism to disrupt some teams, have some kids who can make shots. Not very experienced but they'll get better as the season goes.

Are Darrion Henry and Jaheim Thomas playing? Any other size for the Vikes?

Vike16 11-20-18 05:59 PM

I know Thomas is playing. I don't know if Henry is playing

My guess is that the Colerain game will be rescheduled. School has been called off for the day and half the basketball team is also on the football team. Not to mention the athletic administration plus a lot of teachers/ volunteers will be in Canton

Thanks Vike--just use the GMCsports.com link for schedules on a weekly basis--if there are changes/cancellations due to weather I'll let you know or other posters know what we hear has been re-scheduled (like the Colerain game postponed due to the football game)---thanks for doing the work for the interest of the GMC fans on Yappi!!:thumb:

Hamilton won against Northwest by 6 points. I do have some concerns. 1. They only played 8 players 2. Did not play great defense

Excellent Friday night for the GMC as they go 5-1 vs. out of conference opponents--biggest surprise was West coming from 14 points down at the half and knocking off St. X 56-52. Watching I saw a West team who never quit and kept battling to pull it out late and quite honestly an inexperienced St. X squad with Stockman being their only offensive threat early in the season--lots of games left though to get better.

Middletown and Sycamore were able to win in OT vs. ECC opponents Kings and Milford, Hamilton edged Northwest by 6, Fairfield fought hard vs. Elder but fell late and East rolled over depleted Dayton Dunbar at the Hillsboro Classic--Mason plays Sidney there on Saturday.

CometCountry 12-01-18 09:31 PM

Mason over Sidney 47-31 after 3 quarters at Hillsboro Classic

Mason 63-44 over Sidney

GMC now 6-1 opening weekend!!

Princeton 55
Walnut 49

Great first weekend for the GMC

I think Oak Hills is going to be a pretty good team that hasn't played yet

CometCountry 12-03-18 11:31 AM

Big win for the Vikes yesterday--Oak Hills opens at West next Friday and Colerain not sure due to the football team going to the finals. 7-1 by the conference is a great start for sure!!

I know its a Holiday Tournament with Loveland and Mason, but I'll check around to see who the other 2 teams that are participating--wish more schools would do the 2 game local tourneys.

It's Loveland, Mason, Little Miami, and Springboro. I believe the matchups are Little Miami-SB and Loveland-Mason.

MasonComet 12-04-18 01:27 PM

Thank you both.

Little Miami vs Springboro Friday the 28th at 6:00 according to swocsports.com and gwocsports.com.

Loveland vs Mason Friday the 28th at 8:00 according to Maxpreps.

Just watched a great ending to a solid game between Princeton and X. Princeton ties the game with a 3 with just a couple seconds left before X calls a timeout and gets a heave and solid look at the basket from the free throw line to win the game by two. Almost looked a little bit like the old Duke/Kentucky ending with Laettner.

With that said, both Princeton and X look like real solid teams. I'm getting a sense this year there aren't as many elite players, but the overall talent across the city is higher than it's been the last couple of years. There should be some real good basketball to be seen over the next few months.

The JV game was 2 overtimes with St. X winning on last second three. Varsity was in regulation with a game winning dramatic shot
