Dublin Coffman High School hockey coach Perry Pooley has stepped down after nine seasons. Pooley said he is ending his tenure at Coffman in order to spend more time coaching his son, Austin, on a travel hockey team.
Pooley led the Shamrocks to a 210-108-10-1 record, three Capital Hockey Conference regular-season titles (2005, 08 and 09), three Blue Jackets Cup championships (2004, 05 and 09) and a district title in 2010.
Last season, Coffman finished 23-9-2-1 overall and finished fourth in the CHC standings at 10-2-1 with 21 points behind co-champions Dublin Jerome (12-1, 24) and Olentangy Liberty (12-1, 24), and Cincinnati Moeller (11-2, 22).
"Perry's going to be hard to replace because he knows the game as well as anybody, he respects the game and he has a passion for coaching," Coffman athletics director Tony Pusateri said. "We're looking for someone like Perry because he's one of the best coaches in the state. We've already received some applications for the position and we'd like to get it filled in a hurry because the kids are looking to have some ice time together in the summer."
