Come on people; it's time to start a grass roots movement to move the finals to Cincinnati.

Where do you plan to hold the meets in Cincinnati that can handle the same or more spectators? Don't tell me "Keating" that place is horrible for seating.

If you build it they will come.

Canton provides great atmosphere but the pool is outdated. Now that there are 2 divisions OSHAA should consider splitting the meet and returning to a 2 day prelim / finals format. If necessary stagger the weeks so that they could use the same location on different week ends.

The best pool in the state right now is OSU but the capacity is lower than Canton. Canton made sure they held the capacity battle and kept the meets by adding the newest section of seating on the Southwest end of the pool. Staggering could be nice but to once again return to prelim / finals each day I personally do not like. The meets were in years past as they are now and all season long the meet is swam in one shot. You change the feel and the way the meet is swam when you split the events over two days. I say stick to prelims one day then finals the next.

If the FINA champs can hold 15,000 in a temporary pool at Conseco in Indy, how many tickets could be sold for the Ohio State Swimming Championships? Could an above ground temporary pool be put in the Schott in Columbus and sell 5,000 seats at $32?

If the football champs can be moved, maybe it is time to question the Canton contract in favor of a faster pool.

OSU McCorkle is filling up fast in the spring with Big Tens and NCAA's

The proposed pool in Cinci would be great, but it is very far off.

What about the Corwin M Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University in Oxford or Wright State University? I know Xavier has swimming but does their complex have diving facilities as well?

I just don't see the OHSAA willing to spent that kind of money on swimming! You would have to put in a temporary dive tank also, if you pull out diving the diving community would be upset. The logistics alone would make their heads explode, they want nice and simple. The easier and cheaper they can get by with for swimming & diving has always been the way they have done it. After all it is not football or basketball.

The Cincinnati venue would be fabulous...if it's ever built. Have they made much or any headway?

As to the temporary pool that would be great too, but I can't see OSHAA raising the kind of money involved to do that. Heck, they took so much flack when the ticket price went to $32 from $28 and the number of sessions dropped from 4 to 2 that they backed the price down to $16 a ticket the next year. Can you imagine what the ticket price would have to be for a temporary pool! Realistically the only move from Canton would be if Cincinnati built the pool described...and then probably only if the price were right.

Thanks missed it before! Looked, all they seem to have are some drawings and a dream. Good luck hope you can pull it off. How close are they, has the land been purchased, foundations dug, is money coming in, anything?

Your grass roots will be dead by the time the current TEN YEAR contract expires:

Nice try though :stirthepot: :wallbang:

Maybe that's about the right timeline for Cincinnati to have a new facility.
