Hey Irish. They are not going to repeat last year are they. Are they going to be able to play this good in the tournament. I meant to ask what happened there last year, but never got around to it. Seemed they were primed to win it like they are this year. Hopefully they can run the table.

Not sure. They lost one of their best players from last years team, but play has picked up from other areas. Last year, they ran into a juggernaut(sp) of a team in Kent(I think) and were knocked out earlier than expected. I don't know that expectations are as high this year, but they should be competitive once again. I've only seen 2 of their games, and they look to be getting better each week. My guess is, Kent and Norton will be the games to gauge how far they go this year. Not sure when they play each of these teams, but I'll check and keep all posted.

7th and 8th Grade Boys take on Norton, at Norton, on Monday 1/4/10. 7th Graders will start around 4 oclock with the 8th graders immediately following.
Not sure what school they play at. I'll try and find out.

Spartans won in a barn burner. Can't remember the score but Springfield came away with a 1 point victory. Norton had 3 attempts to win the game in the final 4 seconds but failed to convert as time ran out. Very entertaining game.

7th graders won also to complete the sweep.

8th graders record: 5 - 0.

Middle School ballers face another tough opponent in Kent, tonight at Springhill. 8th graders will start around 4 O'clock with the 7th graders immediately following. I believe the Kent 8th grade is undefeated also.

8th graders lost their first game last Thursday to Kent. Not sure of the score but they lost by 10. Wasn't there so can't comment on what happened. Tonight they take on Ravenna at Ravenna.

8th grade Record 5 - 1.

8th Graders dropped 2 in a row now, this time losing to Ravenna by 2 points. Did not get a report on how the game went nor did I hear how the 7th graders did.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 8th graders dropped another one last night to Ravenna. Didn't catch the score and didn't catch the final of the 7th grade team but heard the 7th graders went into overtime.

Correction: Mondays loss came at the hands of Garrettsvile Garfield, not Ravenna. Sorry.

Current 8th grade record now is 5 - 3.

on another note is the Spartan HS BBall program headed in the right direction?? not being a hoops guy I dont know I have not heard many things about the program or its coaches and i have no clue just trying to gather info on this to make my own opinion for what ever its worth..

Unfortunately, they lost. Not sure of the score but they lost by 8 I believe. It was close till the last 3 - 4 minutes when Norton pulled away. Norton is a very talented Team and well coached. Springfield just doesnt have enough "scorers" on their team. Pretty much a one man team, especially when Jake "The Snake" isnt knocking down his 3's.

As for the future, not sure either. Only follow the 8th graders so could't really tell ya what they have with their underclassmen.

8th grade MS Basketball starts their PTC Post Season Tournament tomorrow at Crestwood. They were seated kinda low and will take on Kent in their first game.
Kent, Ravenna and Norton will be favorites to win the Tourney.
