ive heard rumors that wyoming's #1 guy is out for the season.
that definitely takes down their chances at state

If you mean Murphy, I heard he is having shoulder problems not out for the year. So they will be very strong still.

Nick Schuttinger's departure leaves St. Charles hopeless. St. X gets 1st, Centerville 2nd, and St. Charles 3rd.

I wouldn't say it leaves St. Charles hopeless. It certainly makes things much more difficult. It really just depends on who steps up. No one saw Sandy Whitaker coming last year... who is to say St. Charles won't have another swimmer make stunning strides in a very short time.

One swimmer can not impact a team like that so much they are out of it! While he is a respected athlete,he is not much for hitting the books. That is why he is no longer with St Chuck's program. Geoff Gear will do fine getting his team ready to compete. Don't give them a ten count yet.:p

Impartial outsider you may want to do a little research on the St. Charles swim team this year, this squad may have more depth than any other st charles swim team

Did Shuttinger stay in school at St. C?

The problem with Shuttinger leaving SC is that it was already going to be a battle for state with him, and now that SC doesnt have its number two guy to counter Xs one and two guys, it will be much harder for them take down X.

Also a potential problem for SC, is Shuttinger going to swim for another team? He could beat whittaker in the 100 fly if he has another good season.

Maybe "hopeless" wasn't the right word. But I think the math was difficult for St. Charles to begin with, and his departure hurts their squad a lot. They certainly still have a legitimate shot at 2nd place and have a very slim chance at winning, but you can't possibly consider them the favorites.

I think your right that without Schuttinger St. Charles chances of winning are slim. But they are the solid favorite for second, Cville just doesn't look to have the depth to catch them. They still should win 2 of the 3 relays. If Whitacker repeats and Kocher steps up...who knows. The swims in the Jr. Nationals may tell us alot. Supposedly, OHSAA has provided a waiver for the Jr. Nationals so that kids can still swim in it and start their high school season.

You can always throw in predictions but you really never know what is going to happen. There are good athletes that people don't see except during the "High School" season. With the boys they are still growing also, the scrawny kid who was over looked last season shows up having grown 6 inches and added about 35 lbs of muscle. Then everybody wants to know "where did he come from?" or the kid who swam well last season gets an attitude and thinks he doesn't have to work as hard this year. Some just go AWOL and are never seen again. Then again others are busy over the summer season and don't swim U.S. meets, only practice. Gotta let it play out a bit before we all start tooting horns about how great are teams are. Just my two cents worth, good luck to everybody this season, have fun.

There are a lot of guys swimming different events this year as well, so predictions are wide open. Schuttinger may opt out of the 100 free, Shuster is trying some different events, there are still questions of who is even on the UA team as of post time. SC relay spots up for grabs. Lots of shakin' going on.

What events do you think Schuttinger would be looking at if he drops the 100? My guess would be the 50.

Schuttinger said that he is thinking the IM. He went 1:53 at seniors last March. The kid is a solid breaststoker to add to his strong other strokes. I believe that Westerville Central is D1. Drew Thompson (200/500) is there as well.

I think that is kinda bs that the OHSAA would let kids swim in a usa meet after they start their high school season. I believe it also states that if you are a returning state champ or state runner up that you can get the same exemption. That is kind of playing favorites!!

Just a thought.

Looking forward to an interesting year without $400 suits!!!!!!

A suit advantage will now only cost you $260, LZR ELITE JAMMER:

I have yet to see any comparison of "how much" faster the LZR will be over any other jammer, but I doubt it will be the half-second per 50 that the LZR body claims were.

I do not know for sure that a waiver exists for Jr. Nationals. I have not seen anything from OHSAA. I was just repeating what I had heard. So it may not be true. It may be that those who swim in Jr. Nationals will just delay starting high school competition until after that meet. I just wanted to clarify my earlier post.

There is a waiver available for Jr. Nationals in December.

I'm thinking Centerville will be back with a vengeance. Side note: I think it's interesting to see how much the views are conflicting. Lots of disagreement

The rules are clearly stated that at anytime any athlete may request a wavier to compete in a non High school meet. That does not imply that all waviers are given. It is only fair that they be allowed to submit the request. I don't think it would be fair to hold an athlete back if they have the cut times for a high caliber meet. You would reduce the high school season in some years to leval of summer league swimming.

you know who is really surprising right now is thomas fellows for d2. he isnt even ranked in the top 20 in the 50 or 100. but he has one of the fastest times for both distances regardless of division coming back from last year. although i do think he can still win...

Kevin Schwab who finaled in both the 50 and the 100 isn't showing up in the rankings either, but I don't think that his coach is submitting times.
