Tha Bank has a question for those of you in the know about Springfield football.

Tha Bank has heard that Springfield has an opening in week 3 of 2010 and Tha Bank wants to know if it is true. Garfield also has an opening that week and from what Tha bank has heard, Garfield's AD has contacted Kevin Vaughn (Tha Bank believes it is Springfield's AD and football coach) about this but he will not call backto even say "No.". What up with that?  Anyone in the know please let Tha Bank know. Much appreciated for your appreciation!

Bank,
I am closer to the Youth program than HS, but in all honesty, that doesn't sound like Vaughn to not return a phone call. He is a busy man, but he has always found time to return my calls. I will ask around and see what I can find out.
IMO, I don't think it would be a wise choice, for Springfield to pick up Garfield. Ellet, Green and Garfield is a pretty brutal non-conference schedule for the Spartans at this time. They are still in a rebuilding stage and should look to pick up games where they can compete. I' like to see them pick up a few smaller Division schools, just to give these kids a little confidence going into their Conference schedule.

you hit the nail on the head Irish...:) .. sorry bank i'm sure there will come a time for Springfield to pick up a non-conference game like the Rams but for now this program needs games it can compete in and build back up to a playoff worthy schedule but for now we need to start by winning some games no matter who we play...

who did Springfield pick up to replace Green on week 2? and will they play Revere again?

Appreciate the notes and conversation back to Tha Bank. Tha Bank was just wondering if there was an opening and if anyone knew what was up and why Vaughn would not call back, even if it is to just say what you said above. Peace out and Tha Bank agrees that Springfield needs to get some wins under their belt. But just call the AD back if there is no interest. There will come a time when they may need to pick up the Rams in another sport and you never want to be treated that way, know what Tha Bank means?!

I totally agree. Springfield is trying to rebuild and it sounds like they're on the right path starting with the youth. At this time playing Garfield would probably not be in your best interest. That could be brutal for your confidence and everything you're trying to do. Good luck.

The Gulley brothers and company would have a field day if they played Springfield. It is almost like Coach Meckley & Sims going to the Royal Chinese buffet in the Chapel area. It would get pretty ugly.

Springfield is doing it right. Start off slow and easy build up confidence and then as you put the program in and it gets better then schedule tougher teams.

Cloverleaf week 2. Fowler made that decision years ago.

Pride,

Heeck with Coach Sims, he's a lot lighter now! THa Bank sure hopes that Coach Meck would not take that d-line coach with him. THAT guy could do some serious damage to a buffet! People who live in the Chapel Him area BEWARE! Keep your pets indoors!! Those cooks at the Chinese Buffet would be out looking for cats and dogs to replace the massive amounts of food being consumed by that dude!

Cloverleaf week 2. Fowler made that decision years ago. that does not sound any better for the Spartans than playing Green right now what up with that? as a matter of fact i think playing the Rams would be better than playing Cloverleaf they were tough last year winning against some tough teams... but if the old AD made the arrangement i guess we are still paying the price for the old regimes lack of vision or should i say reality under our current and past circumstances..

Tyson Gulley was honorable mention all state as a junior and Toneo Gulley who will be better than his brother was all over the field on both sides of the ball as a freshman. Sorry I haven't read about any brothers from Springfield. See you in the playoffs????? That reminds me of the Mora commercial. "playoffs, playoffs, playoffs, what playoffs".

Maybe that's what Bobby likes to do, throw his freshman in with the wolves. Kudos to him. I don't think I meant, see Ellet in the playoffs. Sorry if I lead you in the wrong direction.

You won't see Ellet or Springfield in the playoffs. You will see the Rams though. Springfield is in the middle of a massive rebuilding program and Ellet is Ellet. Until Ellet get some new coaching blood you'll see the same results as the last 30 years. Garfield seldom has a let down year and they are very young. They might be the most consistent team in Summit County over the last 60 years.

Yes, Spartan71, Ellet does supposedly have ot worry about a nice receiver potentially leaving them. If Tha Bank were Joe Yost, though, Tha Bank wouldn't worry about it. If he really has any brains, he will realize he has a special opportunity to be a very incredible player for 2 more years at Ellet. At Massillon, he would just be another player.

At Massillon, he would just be another player.

Being "just another player" at Massilon is something to be proud of in itself. Massilon has a serious History and attracts some of the best Football players in the area. The competition alone could and will make him a better player, not to mention some excellent Coaches to help.
Being "something special at Ellet" well, not so special to me. Sorry.

Exactly, in the past 30 years you could probably count the D-1 scholarships on one hand at Ellet.

Why why WHY would a potential state playoff team even consider scheduling a team that has lost 30+ games in a row and earns no one any computer points???

Makes absolutely NO sense. If the Garfield AD made this call he probably would have been met by raucous laughter...

I find it hard to believe Garfield initiated this. They have always scheduled very good teams for their non city games. Knowing certain people I know at 435 there's no way the Rams would schedule this game.
