What are some views on the way the state meet might get set up this year? Personally I think it is selfish on the part of OHSAA. It may be easier for them, but for swimmers who are swimming 3-4 events it stinks. I say stay with the old format, and make the state meet for the swimmers, rather than for the workers.

Is it more convenient for the workers? Or is it less expensive to run because it is at the same pool for the same time frame? I believe that keeping the meet at the Canton pool and not incurring additional rental costs is driving the new format. Holding the divisions on different week ends or at different pools would allow the old format. Question, will the new format change the events that swimmers pick to swim?

I would imagine that would be the case. No one in their right mind would want to swim back to back events. The 100 fly 100 free combo would no longer be feasable. The new format would mean swimmers would have to put much more thought into events they will swim, and even how they will taper for state. Who knows what impact the format will have on the meet.

Speaking of the new format. Does anyone know what the format for state will be this year? I have heard numerous things. Ex. preliminaries one day with every event then finals the next day with every event, with DI boys and girls in the afternoon and DII in the morning.

Anyone actually know? thanks.

It's posted on the OHSAA website at http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/sd/sdrglts.pdf
The format is Friday all prelims, DII in the am; DI in the pm. Saturday finals, again DII am; DI pm. Each session, a 15 minute break after fly.
