In a game played with playoff intensity, FF and Mason tied 2 - 2. The Comets scored in the first 20 seconds to take a 1 - 0 lead. FF countered to make it 1 - 1 and as a driving rain storm swept through Mason found the back of the net to make it 2 - 1. FF equalized on a Hansson rocket to end the first half scoring. The last 3 goals, 2 by FF (Waters got the other goal) and 1 by Mason were spectacular. Hansson's kick was a blistering shot that would have killed someone had they been in its path.

The field held up well after the brief rain storm and the second half saw a see saw contest where both teams had a chance to nail the winner. FF had the best chance though as they got off a great shot with 13 minutes left that was stopped by a fantastic save by the Mason keeper.

Both of these teams have the talent to go deep into the playoffs.

In other news, FF's JVA team beat Mason 1 - 0.

great game! after watching tonight there is no doubt that these are two of the top teams in the city. the last 2 goals, one by mason and one by fairfield were two of the best i've seen all year. seems like sycamore has a tough ending schedule seeing they have to play both of these teams to wrap up their GMC league play. should be interesting to see how this turns out.

Was at the game as well. Both teams played as hard as I've seen any play all this year. Felt bad for Fairfield that they have a game tonight (if we heard the PA announcer accurately). It would be tough for them to come out and match the intensity of the Mason game. Don't agree with Lotr10 though that last Fairfield shot was best opportunity for them with time running out. They actually had a great shot by Troy Wintermeyer that Sparks had a great save on to keep things tied. In my opinion, that was FFs best shot of second half (and best opportunity). Second goal from FF was a missile. Almost equal stats. FF goalie had at least one great save from a shot from Patterson that deflected off a player and was going into the corner in the second half. Patterson also put one wide with a header by a foot. Mason outplayed FF for last 20 minutes but both teams had some decent chances and runs. Stats were similar. The GMC teams right now are playing with incredible playoff like intensity. Will be tough for the other leagues to knock out West, Sycamore, Mason or FF come tournament time. All I can say is Milford would NOT beat the FF team I saw 4-0 again--no way.

I agree that that shot was our best chance in the second half. I thought FF outplayed Mason the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half but as you say mason outplayed FF in the final 20 minutes.

For the record, the 4 - 0 loss to Milford was a very starnge game. It was not that one sided as FF had two excellent scoring chances that on most nights would have resulted in goals. Also 2 of Milford's goals were off of scrums in front of the goal. Not making excusses, but a 2 - 1 loss would have better reflected the game.

FF has played a tough schedule this year, we tied Dublin Jerome, West and Mason, lost to Milford and X (by a late goal) and beat Loveland, East, Elder and Finnytown.

I agree that with a few breaks both Mason and FF could go deep into the playoffs.
