Is the record for Centerville at 6 - 0 misleading? Here is their schedule, soccer experts tell who will give them trouble during the rest of the season.

Beavercreek is probably their biggest game left, and west could hand them some trouble too, but if they play well they should go undefeated.

After a shaky start, Lakota West has gone 3 - 0 - 1 the last 4 games. They tied my Fairfield Indians last week and I was impressed with the West strikers. Great work rate and fast. In fact the West team was physical and skilled and has a shot of beating the Elk.

I would also add that anytime a team like CV has a 6 - 0 record it's not misleading. For the last 25 yeras, the Elk has had one of the best D1 programs in SWO.

Of the remaining games, there are several challenges for the Elks.

First, Alter always plays Centerville close, but they are down this year. Beavercreek took out Centerville last year 3 - 1 at Centerville. They will be very tough on their home field. Northmont also appears to be down this year, but the game is at Northmont and they will be up for Centerville. Fairmont is having a good year so far and expect it to continue. Lakota West usually has Centerville's number, but the game is at C'ville this year.

Centerville looks strong through the early part of the season, but the competition has not been what it will be over the remainder of the season.

The Elks could run the table or they could lose (or tie) as many as three or four games.

I think Wayne also has the potential to give them a fight

Agreed. I didn't mean to leave off Wayne. They will be tough this year as well.

the combined record of the teams they have played so far 11 - 18 - 3, not sure the current record for the teams they have not played.

this is definatly a misleading record. their biggest game so far was moeller and in the future, beavercreek (this is based on what i saw last year) i havnt watched bc yet this year.
lotr10 are you a coach or player...ive noticed you have a lot of knowledge about nearly every team in the gmc.

roadrunner, I'm not a coach or a player, just a big time fan of soccer. I came late to the game but it's now my second favorite sport after football.

My kid played in the early/mid 90's at Fairfield and it was that experience that led me to fall in love with the sport. For us football guys, high school soccer is the best version of the game to watch and learn to appreciate the subtleties of the game. It took me a couple of years to pick-up the nuances of the game but in the interim the high energy and physical play of HS soccer kept me wanting to learn more. That’s why I’ll always enjoy the HS game the most.

During the early years I was also a season ticket holder for the Columbus crew. Heck I had season tickets even before they got Crew stadium. Soccer in the OSU Horseshoe was a sight to behold. After 8 years, I had to give it up as I wasn’t able to make the games in Columbus. But over that time I saw every world cup qualifying and friendly match the US men’s team played in up there. I consider the US/Mexico World Cup Qualifying Match held at Crew stadium to be one of the top 3 sporting events I’ve ever seen in person. The US won 2 – 0 and it was the first qualifying match against Mexico that the US had a true home field advantage. We were loud and proud and I still smile when I think of the 2,000 or so Mexican fans wearing enough clothes to look like Nannook of the north! They definitely didn’t like 25 degree February weather. That night was pure magic!

I kind of know the GMC teams from having followed FF for over 15 years. I also make it a point to catch as many HS playoff games (not just FF, but any teams) as possible as I think they are as exciting as the football playoffs! I consider the FF run to the state championship game in 2006 to be one of the most intense sports series I’ve ever experienced in person.

The added bonus is that the weather in SW Ohio is fantastic from late August to early November so any excuse to get out after a hard days work is appreciated.

Guess Creek answered your question.....9 wins with only one loss is still not bad....they will be tuff in the tournament

After reading this post it brought back a funny memory for me. Years ago ST.X was playing Centerville in football and the Centerville fans were cheering "Let's go Elks", well the X kids jumped all over the chant and started their own. "Elk is plural...clap, clap...Elk is plural". I thought i was going to piss myself from laughing so hard when i heard this. Okay, carry on with the soccer talk.

I'd say Centerville may be in more trouble than you guys think. They just tied Thomas Worthington 1-1, and TW isn't considered a good team in Columbus this year.

Thomas Worthington 1, Centerville 1
TW (2-5-2) -- Goal: Sheldon. Saves: Bullock 3.
CENT (8-1-1) -- Goal: Kercher. Saves: Wright 5, Hulings 2. Halftime: CENT, 1-0.

I don't know about the football game, but at the regional final for basketball at the end of the 2004-2005 season St. X played Centerville at UD Arena in Dayton. The boys from St. X used the "Elk is plural" chant at the beginning of the game. Unfortunately for the boys from St. X, both "Elk" AND "Elks" are considered plural.

Does Centerville's soccer stadium have FieldTurf? Is it a separate field than the football field?

No. It is a grass soccer only facility.

The football stadium (which hosts soccer tournament games) is turf.

Ok, that's what I was wondering, if the tournament games would be on the turf. I am reffing (AR) a regional girls game up there.
