Springfield youth football?

I am sure I am out of the loop and I have read all the junk on here but what happened? I didn't expect things to fall off so far and so fast. I went to Mogadore on saturday to watch the varsity game and was very disappointed. I was going to stop and say hey to the coaches. I didn't know 1 coach and they only had 12 kids dressed. I am not positive but maybe 2 or 3 of the kids were Springfield kids. There is no way the team that played saturday can make it a full season. I felt sooo bad for the kids on the field. They played the best they could under the circumstances but the circumstances are horrible. I have no kids in this and no sides just an old Springfield person that always makes a couple youth games every year and don't quite understand.

If you want to watch Springfield kids play you need to go watch a BYF game. Maybe Irish can put their schedule on one of these threads. I would like to come see one of their games also, I just don't know when they play.

I will not go into specifics, but will let you know, Springfield now has 2 Youth Leagues. The League you saw vs Mogadore is down on numbers and are pulling from anywhere to suit up kids. The other Springfield League is part of the Buckeye Youth Football League where there are no weight restrictions. The similiar age group you saw Saturday, that is part of the BYF League has 30 kids on the Roster and the League as a whold is upwards of 240 kids. All of these kids live in the Township/Village or attend Springfield Schools. Just an FYI for you.

maybe the firestone park coaches just aren`t that good at coaching !!!

Team looked good last night A-team coaches, 87, 71. Kids were hitting the holes a little harder than usual. I like to see you utilizing those lineman, smashmouth football.

We're coming around. It may take a game or two, for some of these first year players to catch up to the speed of the game.
KV should be drooling over the size of these kids. Tackles and between these 7th graders average 210 lbs. :D
Add these kids with a few of the bigger kids from 8th grade, and the future looks brighter for our Football program.
Green will give us a good test this weekend. I hope our kids are ready.

The 2 small guys on the varsity a-division line weigh in at 150lb and 187lbs respectivley.... and yes Irish they are coming around as i said earlier its been a challenge as a coach bringing first year players up to speed but they are making progress...

Are you guys using different head coaching for the v and JV game? I think it would be great to see asst. coaches get the experience. JMO

That is our plan. The HC will call the Varsity game, and our Defensive Cooridinator will call the JV game. We also have a few younger kids helping that do a very good job. We hope to groom them a little, and give them the experience to help if they decide to stick with coaching down the road.
