I have to say that makes a statement.

Milfords Mid-Field with Grothaus, Jones and Michaelson looked solid down the middle ... Fairfield is a good team they didn't convert their oppurtunities ... The game score does not reflect the game ... nice throws

Striker23, I agree 100%.
First, Milford is deserving of their number one ranking. This is a solid soccer team that if it stays healthy could go deep into the playoffs.
Particularly outstanding were the throw-ins from #15. His distance and accuracy were amazing and constantly put the Indians on the defensive. I’m a big believer that in high school soccer a great throw in talent is a difference maker. IMO, the Indians would have been better off conceding corner kicks then giving #15 throw-ins from inside the 25 yard line.
As for the game, 4 – 0 does not reflect how evenly the two teams played. As Stiker23 noted, the Indians had numerous excellent opportunities that they didn’t convert. By my count FF had 10 – 11 shots on goal and 9 – 10 corner kicks. Frankly, a 3 – 2 Milford win would have better reflected the game.
Hopefully FF can bounce back. They are a good team that ran into a very good team last night. Like Mason did last year, Milford has set the bar this year for top dog in D1 HS soccer.

Did any of Milford's goals actually come from a throw-in? Did FF defend the throw-ins like a corner (as in, did they put players on the posts)? Talk about raising the blood pressure of a keeper...

not one goal came off a throw in. milford had a LOT of opprotunities off of the throw-ins (grothaus's bike) but no goals off of them. fairfield also had a lot of good chances like the corner that was saved off the line by 3 and George had a couple of nice saves but the final shot-shot ratio (said by the announcer at the end of the game) was 13-10 in milfords favor. Milford finished more and IMO had better opprotunities and finished those

The scary thing is, Milford is without two of their best players. Watch out once Danny and Tyler get back

Have played first two games without three of their starting Seniors....two of which play up top. Question is can Milford's new Head Announcer handle the pressure of announcing this Thursday's home opener with an undefeated team?

So what's the inside joke about the new announcer?

From the Fairfield side,Milford has great transition and solid defense in that they didn't let Fairfield get any good shots off.I think Milford had a solid midfield that won balls out of the air. Fairfield did not run the right formation as expected.3 in the back with on of those 3 marking up which left alot of the times 2 defenders and a large load of the outside mids to work all the way back.I say the score didn't reflect what it should have been with the right formation.I would say it should have been about 2 or 3 to 1.Their keeper made some great saves and Fairfield didn't capitalize on what chances they had.Was a good game for Milford bad game for Fairfield.
