Any thoughts on Glen Este this year? Romur has it that their Defense will be tough to get back this year, their sweeper and outside backs are apparently really gel'd
I'll beleive it when I see it.

Defense let them down last night. All 4 of Turpin's goals were off of unmarked palyers. Have not seen that many uncontested shots for awhile.

Eh, yeah, but you can't get your head down loseing to a team like Turpin. The way the GE soccer program has been in the past you can tell they are turning around. They got Norwood coming saturday.

I grew up in the heart of downtown Glen Este. Glen Este is about a two mile stretch on I-74 between Summerside and Willowville. I'm sure that makes it much more clear.:)
I thought I read on a different post that GE had a bunch of 2nd yellows in their first game. Was it the Boy's team or am I off the mark? If so, I wonder how much that may have played a role.
You don't sit out the next game for Double Yellows in HS Soccer. It was the Boy's game against Amelia.
When did I-74 extended to the East side? LOL I know what you meant. Old 74:) :)

That they do, have a good couple days to practice for Northwest on Tuesday. Jake Jones was out as well for the WH game so to everyone that thinks he is the team, then you thought wrong.

glen este 0 walnut hills 2, could have easily been 6, walnut hills posessed all over them just couldnt put it away more than twice, glen este had almost no offense, basically they kicked it high and far to the walnut defenders to bring down and control

Okay, why does this thread even exist? When I played against them last year, it was 100% the worst soccer (if one can call it soccer) that I've ever seen. Any time they intercepted a pass they cleared it as far as they could out of bounds, and then high-fived each other. I don't see how GE is anywhere near relevant in Cincinnati soccer. Wins over Amelia and Norwood...congratulations. Call me when you have a .500 season, or better yet, a .400 season.

Your reason for kicking the ball out of bounds ended any discussion: "You have that giant hill." Congratulations my friend, you have found Turpin's weakness. Did you see any of the kids who played for Turpin? About four of them have experienced puberty, and are taller than 5' 6". I don't know about this year, but last year your team succeeded in playing such horrific soccer that the we couldn't even think straight. You were playing to lose, but not by that much. If that was goal, then you succeeded. When a team is good, but not great, unconventional approaches like that can throw them off a bit. Losing by a two-goal margin two years in a row to a team that just doesn't have extreme offensive firepower isn't something to brag about. Like I said, get to .500 first.

why is this even being talked about. GE is terrible and shouldnt even be mentioned. The only thing they have going for them besides jake is the fact that they are so bad they dont dive in on fakes. That is about the only compliment i can give their defense.

Agreed, GE is bad. Only thing they can do is foul, foul, foul,... and oh yes, foul. Plus they have one of the most annoying coaches in the city who just screams constantly. Doesn't shut up. If you're team is half decent at passing the ball around the field, you should have no problem with GE... just be ready to get thrown to the ground bout 4 seconds after you get the ball.

played harrison tonight-tied 0-0, refs not the best in keeping it in control. 2 glen este players one double yellowed and one straight red. I believe a few other yellows.
but completely class-less definitely goes to #8, couldn't keep his hand off our players shorts :eek: -and to the young hoodlum who told one of the harrison moms to bl** him and then went after her.
GLen Este is definitely--just ugly, shame because there are a few very talented players-that they have to be put on the same field with these sore heads with no class.

All this was unfair to #8 they were out to get him from the start, they wouldnt let us play for squat. our player had their legs taken out and they got the call. as for the kid fighting the parent.. If the parents wouldnt talk to the players and yell profane words at them.
That problem would not have happened what she said was completely uncalled for talking about his mom? how she plays into it I have no idea. I had to hold him back. Parents just shouldnt yell at the players... Ironic huh? She yelled at him like she could beat him... he turns around and runs... I tackle him and the lady packs up like a hurricane is on its way.

so before everyone blames us as dirty. classless (yes I do agree that last night was patheticly classless) but its just because our reputation of being a physical team, Refs will not let us play our style.
Parents get involved because their poor little johhny is a star and got knocked on his butt so now she is going to think she is hot stuff and yell and complain at the ref, I imagine that someone under that much pressure would make "favored" calls.

A story like this Harrison one just doesn't surprise me. Stories like these just further the thought that GE is a bunch of grits. I know it's not exactly true, but it's basically true. It seems as though other people have been saying the same thing, just not the same wording. It's a shame they can't find anyone else to represent them on the soccer field.

Glen Este players are not misunderstood. They are making a bad name for themselves because they are not good soccer players. I was at the first game of the year against Amelia and there were three yellow/red cards and numerous other yellow cards. #8 went after one of the Amelia forwards and threw an elbow into his face and should have been red carded for the incident. This kind of behavior is making a bad name for the team and the coach. The coach doesn't keep quiet and the players take on his personna while on the field. Their style of play is get beat and then foul. If I can't get the ball then foul. I know that if some of the teams could they would probably not schedule them, but since 10 out of the 16 games are against FAVC teams their is not much that can be done.
It is a shame that with the tournament draw coming up, coaches couldn't just vote them #28, which would be the last seed. This way they would probably have to play Milford or Sycamore, which could probably play the JV squad and beat them.
Isn't #15 Jake Jones, their star forward. He got a yellow/red against Amelia in the first game, just like #8. The state needs to step in and take care of this. If you get a yellow/red it should carry a stiffer punishment than just sitting out that game. It should carry a one game suspension. If you get ejected in a second game there should be a stiffer penalty and a warning about having to sit out the rest of the year if it happens again.
They got lucky against Amelia are they would have only one win. Amelia hit the post three times during the game. Amelia use to be the ugly team from West Clermont but that has now changed considerably since last year.
The player should not have gone after the parent, but the parent should not be saying anything to the player either. I wonder where the AD, Principal, and/or Superintendent are during these events. Usually schools have a representative at the games. If I was the AD, it would be time for a change, a big one at that.
Soccer is suppose to be a finesse game, but GE wants it to be like american football. Any team that plays them and comes out healthy should be happy.

we do have stiffer penaltys at GE if you get a red the state mandates 2 game suspension...GE makes you sit out 4 games. So jake is out for 4 games.
And soccer needs to be looked at again by many.. so many players flop now..
Back in the day soccer was much much more physical. if GE has no talent then how would you like us to win? eh?
Not ALL the players are classless one kid actually held the other back from going after the parent and tried to keep #8 under control. Next year it wont be bad like this year... just our senior class is a bunch of arse's and I'll be the first to tell you... and I do apologize. but the actions of few should not reflect an entire team. and our coach won 2 state titles with Turpin so its not his fault..

I hope that you are right. However, a few bad people can reflect very badly on a program. The coach is in control of his program. If I were a coach and a player or players kept acting the way they are they would be they would get one warning, then a suspension, and if it kept on I would remove them from the team. There is no place for this kind of behavior and even if it isn't fair the coach is responsible, esecially in high school. I know that if a few players were suspended or removed from the team it would improve dramatically immediately. Winning doesn't always come first. GE is not winning right now, so this would be a great time to lay down the law so to speak.
Hopefully, things will turn around for the GE program. I know the demeanor and problems at Amelia have turned around with the new coach. They are not winning games but they are behaving themselves much, much better than in the past few years. It can be done with the backing of the administration, AD and a coach that is willing to sit players no matter what the cost. The coach at Amelia also won two State Championships while at Madeira and he has come in and changed the demeanor of the players on the field by installing his rules and following them. The best way to get to a player is to remove playing time. This will help in curtailing the kind of behavior that is happening.

HELLO HARRISON! we drew harrison in first round. after that its Milford (they got a bye) should be a heated match ecspecialy after the last meeting! Really looking foreward to it. there were a few other tense looking games in the drawing.
Comments on tournament winners or surprises? maybe a darkhorse team? maybe a upset or will them big boys take over the tournament?

Harrison is the biggest bunch of hacks we have played, some absolutely ridiculous tackles and other fouls. Realized they were hopeless the minute they stepped on the field and I guess got a little angry. Left one of our players with a torn ACL, one with a broken finger, both important players that matter to our team's long term success. The ref did a poor job at keeping the game under control, as it was obvious what was going on from the very beginning.

first you have to actually beat harrison and not just tie. So, if you happen to do that, idk why you would look forward to another 9-1 beatdown from milford.

still doesn't take away from the fact that you guys will be awful next year. matt g. is the only quality player returning and that's not enough. so unless you play powder puff teams next year id be surprised if you even win one game.
