That doesnt really matter because the Seniors they have now and Juniors have a lot of talent. All of them play a high club level of soccer and all are very solid players whos talents went a bit unrecognized b/c of the strength of the class above them.

Wow, can't wait for the season to start. This should be another great year for the GMC.

I don't know much about the other schools in the conference, but Fairfield should be strong. Of course it's a dog fight winning the GMC and I suspect 3 - 5 teams will be fighting for the top spot.

Based off watching all the JV teams in the GMC last year, Lakota West will have a strong team. Their JV was excellent last year and many of them could have played varsity had it not been for such a strong varsity squad. Same with Mason. At least six or seven of Mason's JV last year could have played varsity for another school (the Mason Fairfield JV game was very one sided, though it ended in a tie--like three to one on shots for Mason).

Fairfield will be very good, but so will Mason, West, and Sycamore. I see it as a four pony race. Can't see Colerain, East, Princeton, or others competing seriously at all. This will be a down year for Mason and West compared to last year, but both will still be very competitive if not give Fairfield serious problems. Fairfield, I think, has the best coach, which certainly helps.

MIDDLETOWN IS THE TEAM IN 2008..

here is a stat for you

the mens program has not won a game in the gmc for at least 4 years.that means about 35 game loss streak. Its their year im telling you!!!!

MORE STATS- their girls have only won 2 games in at least 4 years as well. That means the whole program has a 3 percent winning percentage in conference play.I THINK THEY ARE DUE!state here they come.

Nonsense......Mason will contend for their second title in as many attempts. Its true they lost alot of seniors, but they have both keepers coming back (one of which could be all-city M. Sparks) and lastly they had an xlnt JV squad last year.

Look for the Comets to contend in not only the league but post season as well.

Fairfield I think he was joking. This Oak Hills team will struggle once again this season and finish in the bottom third.

okay well first off, oak hills people you can just stop, please.
every year we hear the same damn thing...
"its our year this year"
and when they lose or do bad or whatever they do, it becomes some
lame exuse..."it was coaching," or " the refs were terrible"
and the best one...."if we played you again i guarantee we'd win"

Don't be to quick to count out Oakhills. They have a great new coaching staff and put up an impressive win last night over Walnut Hills. The Highlanders came out on top 2-0 after a hard fought game.

Oak Hills has the best goalkeeper in town and will keep them in games. In the GMC though it will be tough for them to stay up game after game. They will improve this year in the league but not be at the top. If they are going to get to the top they better do it this year as it looks dim the next few years on the west side

their goalkeeper is not the best in town by any stretch

With fairfield taking a 4 goal loss to milford and not being
able to captialize on chances could leave them short of the title. This year it will be up for grabs. West and Mason will most likely not be potent due to both losing key offensive and defensive standout but I wouldn't be suprised to see them at the top. Look for an up and coming young team or a team that hasn't done much in recent years. Look for Oak Hills or Sycamore or even Lakota East. I read that Lakota East is young and has poetential to go the distance but inexperience could very well hinder them. Looks like we are in for a fun and exciting season in the GMC. Good luck to all!

I agree ... not the best. Better get out and see some more soccer ... or look at all teams with an unbiased opinion.

Whose on the new coaching staff? What happened to the old coaching staff?

The new coaching staff consist of John Mirizzi (former assistant Varsity) but has much higher expectations than Ausman did. Also assistants Dan Donovan and Brian Link. This team was assembled when former Varsity coach Chuck Ausman retired.

Oak Hills has 7 juniors that as freshman went 9-2-4 and they have only gotten stronger and better. Their keeper is a 4 year starter and is highly recruited

Your success at the freshman level means nothing. Ive seen Freshman teams at the freshman level go 10-2-3 and similiar to the same record and then step on to the varsity level junior and senior year and the team goes 4-12.

Teepen will keep them in games though.

Sycamore has my vote for best team in GMC easily. No, I'm not a sycamore fan, I'm a Milford player. Played them, tied them. Good team. Don't see anyone else in GMC being much of a challenge to them.
