whats the word on the work outs are all the HS kids showing up i heard it is a rough work out but i also heard the kids are having fun and learning.. great job by the new staff on getting not only HS kids working but also the JH and 7th grade boys involved with the rebuilding process:)
the future is brighter already in springfield and we have not even played a down yet thanks to the vision of our new HC and his staff.
BYF+JH Team return+New involved HS staff
= future success
as frustrating as the youth split has been here football has never been talked about more here in Springfield since the Jay Glaze times with A. Gary. and in the long run that can't be bad that people are actually interested in football here again. I just hope Springfield Suburban Youth trains kids from our own township and not every little johnny in akron just to get their numbers up as i have heard..
Isnt Springfield open enrollment. If we get them young maybe they will go to our high school. Our numbers our down this will help. whats the word on the work outs are all the HS kids showing up i heard it is a rough work out but i also heard the kids are having fun and learning.. great job by the new staff on getting not only HS kids working but also the JH and 7th grade boys involved with the rebuilding process:)

i see your point and cannot argue that bringing players into springfields HS is a plus but i am a believer in focusing on what we have here in the township and believe it or not we have a lot of talent here but most athletes here play other sports and football is not of much interest to most of our better athletes we hope to change that and i believe the new AD will help with that. you cannot trust that a kid from akron who plays youth football here is going to transfer here for high school it sounds good in theory but reality is much the opposite.
alot of the akron kids that have played youth here in the past have done so for family/playtime reasons.. the byf format forbids kids from other communities playing here unless they are open enrolled here.. just like it will be in JH and HS. makes sense does it not?

Lets be honest people, how many kids in the past 5 - 6 years actually Open Enrolled to Springfield, because of their Academics or Football team. Prolly not many.
Until they turn these schools around and put a competitive Football team on the field, I don't see things changing much.
I'm not trying to be negative, simply stating facts.
Vote for the Levy next time and support your HS Athletics people!

Do you really want open enrollments coming here from Akron for sports??? c-mon. Some people send there kids here from Akron because the environment is condusive to learning without worrying about all the racial bs and I agree with that. We don't need any wanna be *superstars* coming here for the wrong reasons just to shine. We have perfectly good boys here.
I really believe that people will now seriously consider passing a levy since the school board seems to be going in the right direction. You watch, Springfield is going to be the place to be if things continue in the right direction. Just watch some of the community channel meetings, they are so positive and seem to have the right leadership now.

I saw in an earlier post, the talk of Akron youth playing in Springfield. I can't see that ever happening. I would guess that eventually all the Springfield youth will go to Akron. Not Akron coming to Springfield. I hear you had someone affiliated with the youth football program break into the concession stand and steal another division's equiptment. I also hear that they know who did it and nothing is being done. I for one, would never let my kids play in Springfield. With all the bickering, fighting and threats of lawsuits going on in Springfield. You people seem to forget ... this football is for the kids. What has happened bringing your kids up with respect, honesty, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. You are setting a great example for the youth of Springfield. Looks to me like the youth are more mature than the adults over there.

Blaze,
I can't say that I disagree with your statement, but understand, the Buckeye Youth Football League in Springfield, is trying to move on and focus on the kids, but the other group continues its Law suits and threats to strip the kids of equipment. We have done nothing but defend our League and its 240 kids from the start.
