The Upper Tier is WIDE OPEN, i can see either South Range, Springfield, East Palestine or Columbiana taking league this year!

As for the Lower Tier i think it should be a walk in the park for Lowellville to cruise to a repeat.

And for the top players returning i would have to think Scott Partika is going to be the one to beat. I heard he's been playing in junior tournaments all over and doing pretty well, anyone know scores from those???

Ariel Whitmer will continue to play great golf playing with the big boys and out driving them!!! I've also heard she's been playing in alot of junior tournaments, any scores on those???

Ludwiczack, Rummel and Birmingham should also be the top guys to beat. I cant wait to see Randall and Scott go head to head as well as Ariel and Eric, it sure would be exciting to go see them go at it.

I agree that the upper tier is wide open and that Lowellville shouldn't have too tough of a time. But you never know, Jackson Milton always has a good team and I think McDonald will be very much improved.

I think that Lowellville is going to be very good this year. They return 6 of their top 8 players from the ITCL championship team last year. They should have an excellent top 4 with Partika, the Alfano brothers, and Amendola.

For Partika:
Qualified for the 2nd round of the optimist by shooting a 78 at Deer Creek
Missed qualifying to Florida by 1 stroke in the optimist by shooting a 75
Shot 79 in Kenny Novak
Shot 78 in Westfield
he will be playing in a lot of other junior tournaments along with the Alfano brothers

Top 10 Lower Tier Players

1. Scott Partika Lowellville
2. Randall Ludwiczak Western Reserve
3. Derek Rummell Jackson Milton
4 (tie) Joe Alfano Lowellville
Anthony Alfano Lowellville
6. Tyler Smith Southern
7. Mauro Amendola Lowellville
8. Troy Dombrowski McDonald
9. Ben Householder Sebring
10. Jeff Karash Jackson Milton

If I am forgetting someone to make mention to it. Also, someone else do the upper tier because I don't know very much about it.

Does anyone know what ITCL teams will be playing at Diamond Back on opening day?

John McDermott
06-22-08, 08:26 PM
Wow Scott has been playing great then! Great to see players from such small schools shine with players from D1 schools and such, something you don't see very much in other sports. I think that you can make an arguement that even though they come from such a small league, Ariel Whitmer is hands down the top female golfer in the Valley and i think Scott is arguably the top boys golfer in the Valley. Very nice to see the small conference represented well!!!

"Devils" try to pull some strings since you guys run the tourny and see if you can get Me, Ariel, and Randall all in the same group... what a fun day that would be!

Mineral Ridge might be golfing I hope. I think at the next board meeting I'll say something about it and try to see if some people in our school would do it. There are actually a lot of people that do golf but some play football and stuff

Watch out for South Range In the ITCL.
Arial Whitmer will definitely be very strong but in the mix will be Freshman Brandon Pluchinsky whom has won or placed in the top 10 in every tournament in Northeast Ohio over the past 5 years. Look for him to be the suprise top 5 performers in the ITCL.

First of all Lowellville won the championship last year not Western Reserve(they finished like 5th). Lowellville has 4 starters returning too and they are all averaging below 40 or very near it. And no one said anything about McDonald winning it all. I hope ur being sarcastic about everything that u said.

ITCL CHAMP Jason Ramus will be returning for his senior year at United. Did i metion he was the ITCL champ. Yeah, watch out.

Remember Ramus was the "CO"-champ last year with that Freshman from Columbiana Zach Chaplow. They tied at Reserve Run in the ITCL Upper. Both had 74's..

RayCharles
07-30-08, 11:58 PM
There was a tournament at Valley Tuesday. A high school preview (individual players). In the Junior/Senior division Ramus won with a 72. I can't remember who got second but three boys tied for third with 75's. One boy from Columbiana.

In the Freshman/Soph division a boy from Mooney won with a 77. Second place was a tie between two Columbiana players. Both had 78's.

A girl from Mooney won the girls division with a 77.

Three Clippers were in the 70's!

Rocket_Golfer09

1.Western Reserve
2.Loweville
3.Jackson Milton

Only reason this was said is because everyone that has McDonald up there is just ridiculous all the have is little troy nobody else. Reserve brings back 4 seniors 3 from there championship season, and there top 6 consists of solid shooters.
1.Randall Ludwiczak avg 37
2.James Lingo avg 40
3.Eric Klingensmith avg 41
4.William Vesia avg 41
5.Seth undisclosed lastname avg 43
6.Eric Harsany avg 45

Yea i remember that Ludwiczak was on that championship team and also remember that the other top 4 that played were seniors that year so that leaves room for one more spot... Yea McDonald returns little troy along with several other good players that are young and were improving from what i heard they will be competitive... I still think Reserve will be very competitive

We will have to wait and see who the team to beat is August 11th at Diamondback

I didn't include Ramus in my top players because i had no clue what his name was but i've seen him play this summer and i think he will be the top player in the Upper Tier for sure

After Columbiana's first week of golf they are 2-0 in 9 hole matches and 0-3 in 18 hole matches.

They won against Struthers in a scrimmage. Then in the opening ITCL (upper tier) match with United, they won.

On Wednesday the Clippers played at Pleasant View against 4 other teams: Louisville, Alliance, Massillon Perry and Massillon Washington. The Alliance team only played 9 holes. But the others played 18. The Clippers had a down day in the 18 hole play by loosing all three matches. But they won the match against Alliance.

A scheduled match against East Palestine (at Valley) was rescheduled to a later date due to rain.

yea, i choked big time... 8 over the last six holes it sucked big time... Not trying to sound like a big whiner or anything but I truly believe i got hosed. The format sucks for all league one bad day and I don't get it after I was medalist at every match but a couple to anthony, that i got second, and one to householder. Sorry im just a lil pissed cuz that is bushleague, i said it last year when tieche got screwed out of first team but noone cared and now it screwed me too. Plus what the H e l l it should be top 6 make 1st team since that is the amount of starters that we play all year. In football 11 starters on each side of the ball make first team. 11 starters=11 first team shouldn't 6 starters= 6 first team for golf??? face it the ITCL and the commish don't even give a damm bout golf, because the coaches have a H e l l of a time trying to get their way in this league but no one cares. Once again im really not trying to be cocky at all by saying i clearly deserve it, Im just stating the facts thats all and the facts prove i was clearly one of the best by far. It should be a coaches vote like every other sport and they should take 6. Because Derrik Rummel from Jackson got screwed too, he should have definitly got it. And not to take anything away from selby, but householder should have gotten it over him! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get to columbus and show the rest of the state what me and the ITCL are made of. Good Luck to everyone at Districts and congrats to Eric Birmingham from Springfield for dominating the Upper Tier with a 73.

hey scott
Not only Tieche got screwed last year. I got screwed last year too. i felt like that format they had is BS! i was very very upset. I know that Yourself, Tieche and I should have been 1st team last year. they shouldnt go by the tourny. they should go by the season only not the tourny.

Rocket_Golfer09
09-21-08, 12:26 AM
Your right, Last year if the league knew what they were doing it would be the six best players... Me(Partika), You(Pat), Randall, Tieche, Wiemer and Anthony... Add me to the list with you and tieche to the seniors to get screwed along with Warnock and householder from southern 2 years ago... remember the infamous choke? Them two shot lights out every match!

Roundin' The Bags
09-21-08, 01:50 PM
EXACTLY! Its a really stupid format. Probably the worse way to determine the league top players

Roundin' The Bags
09-22-08, 04:34 PM
Thats how is should of stayed. But no. Its golf. and people know that the game changes for people every day. you can go out for 3 days straight and shoot how your suppose to be shooting and then there will be a day where you dont shoot what you want to shoot. Its golf. There are 2 things in the world where you can do it consistantly. and that is hit a Major League 95 MPH fastball and Hit a golf ball off a tee consistantly straight

Rocket_Golfer09
09-22-08, 07:16 PM
I played in many junior tournaments outside of golf the last couple years so i have a very good idea on how junior golf works. I saw someone shoot a 40 on one side and a 30 on the other, its an up and down game you cant base it on one round. I also have a very good view on how to run a tournament. And i know the ITCL doesn't have a clue when it comes to that. First off there should be a shotgun start, they waste all that time on the first tee when they could have already had kids finish atleast 5 holes by the time they teed off. And they have no clue how to figure out all league. Also, they were nazi's about those scorecards, its not a big deal let us write our score on the card so we dont have to carry around two cards!!! HAHA...

But,

Overall I thought it was a good year for the ITCL, the lower tier i thought was very competitive, the best skill since the leagues joined. For the most part, except for a few occasions, everyone got along great. So good luck to everyone Wednesday I hope the ITCL reps it good in the State Tournaments... Also congrats to Jason Ramus of United for qualifying out of Candywood today with a score of 78

StIlLaRoUnD
09-23-08, 10:14 PM
Ya the ITCL really needs to look into a different way in figuring out 1st and 2nd team... The worst golfer in the league could go out in the league tournment and shot the best round of his life and be named so called 1st.. Isnt 1st team, soppose to be the best players in the league... Ya good job ITCL...I guess the ITCL doesnt want to waste anytime.. They screw the kids that really deserve it..
