Just curious what people's thoughts are now that preliminary play is almost complete? I think U17s and U16s is up for grabs as teams are not dominating but on any given day one beats another, and then the next they get beat, lots of ties too.

they do the seedings tuesday night
i would agree that u17 is wide open, it will be very interesting to see how the games play out, as most of the teams seem pretty evenly matched

Any predictions for the U-18 and U-15 levels? Who are the contenders?

In the U15 age group, would be VERY surprised if it is NOT CUP Red and Blast in the final game. Blast should win but will be very close. Semis will probably be COSA and Lakota Eagles.

Didn't look at bracket for U15s close enough. CUP Red and Blast have to play in the semis. That is unfair because they are the two best teams. That means final will be either CUP Red or Blast against the Lakota (soon to be CUP) Eagles.

Just a hunch. No more, no less. I'm not as familiar with those two teams as some of the others and it seemed like the upset to pick.
U15's Cup Red vs Blast should be a good one

U15's Cup Red vs Blast should be a good one
Yeah, that one should be a great game. It's so hard to tell though how good the Blast is. CUP Red has improved substantially this year from last season, when they got spanked in the MRL Premier division. The Blast is this year leading the MRL Premier standings. I also thought the Lakota Eagles would beat COSA. After seeing both teams last weekend, I'm not so sure. Both semis will be good in the U15s but I'm almost sure the winner of CUP Red and Blast will be your state cup winner.

GFC Arsenel Blue lost to Worthington United Blue*
The semi-finals will be held Saturday at Ankeney in Beavercreek, times TBD.
After going 4-0 tonight, I'm sitting at 10-2 for the tourney so far.

Predictions on U16
Team Ohio vs. Metro FC - Sat at Ankeney at 1:00
Cup Red vs. Eagles - Saturday at Ankeney at 1:30
Tough call as all teams are beating up on each other at this age group.
Team Ohio, though, is already through, to Regionals as a result of MRL Premier division status. Metro FC is second in that division.
TO beat Metro in MRL but I'm hearing Metro is substantially improved since that game. Cup and Eagles depends on which Eagles team shows up. All should be very good games.

in U18...
CUP Red barely sneaked by Team Ohio in the Round of 16.
They should have an interesting game against blast in the semis.

Results from today:
Team Ohio Green* beat CUP 91 Red, 4-0
Metro FC Rapids* lost to Worthington United Blue, 1-0
The Team Ohio vs CUP game was 4-0 at halftime and TO played keep away the second half. They looked really, really sharp today.
The Rapids vs Worthington game was really competitive. Both teams had shots on goal, but both goalies did their jobs well. I was on the other end of the field, but Worthington scored with about 3 minutes left. It sure looked to me like the ball ricocheted off a player. The goalie was moving with the ball and then the ball changed direction. Maybe someone who was closer can tell me if it was intentional. Rapids pressed hard for a tying goal, but couldn't close the deal.
I was 1-1 today which makes me 11-3 so far.
If, and that's a big IF, the game doesn't get rained out tomorrow, then it will be...
Team Ohio Green* vs Worthington United Blue
The game is scheduled to be at Ankeney at 11:15 on Field 2.
I'm picking Team Ohio in this one even though Worthington has already beat them this year. That was early in the season at the Blast and Team Ohio pretty much played like crap that whole weekend. Team Ohio has been crushing their opponents in the State Cup thus far and they have figured out how to score. I'll go so far to predict a two goal differential for tomorrow's game.

With all the rain and probably slick fields, field conditions might unfortunately play a role in this match-up plus the fields are not "true" regualation size. Heard Rieger broke his ankle when they didn't play last weekend so that may hurt TO. should be a great game.

I agree wet conditions often benefit the less skilled team and im interested to see how riegers absence will effect TO. I still have great confidence in TOs defense however which has been very strong this year allowing only 2 goals this year (one being a penalty kick in the semi's). They also have a very strong keeper. I believe that Cup is very capable to give them a good game however. They are very physicall and always come out with great effort and also have a strong defense. It will be a great game to watch

Anyone with any "color" on the game. Saw that Team Ohio won 2-0 - was it closer than it looks?

The loss of the player on TO, and the extra week to prepare for the game resulted in...same ol' Cup Red....same good TO. The 2-0 was in the first half. Second half was just TO running out the clock, waiting to claim 2'nd St. title. Not sure what Cup can do to get better match-up's, not sure what they will gain after tryout's. Good luck to those teams that advance to Regionals from OS. I know it's Metro and TO as of now. Eagles and Metro play at Delco Tuesday May 21'st with nothing on the line but bragging rights to 3'rd/4'th best in the OS area.

Worthington Metro beat Team Ohio Green on Saturday for the U-17 Boys State Cup title.
Worthington scored first on off a great pass. Team Ohio responded with a shot on goal that the goalie couldn't handle and one of the TO players bounced the shot off the goalie's chest and into the net. Team Ohio went up 2-1 on a beautiful header off a corner kick and then Worthington tied it back up when it appeared that the TO defense just went to sleep.
Neither team scored in the overtime periods even though both had chances.
PKs. Both teams connected on their first 4 PKs. The fifth TO kicker bounced the ball off the left upright and the fifth Worthington kicker netted his. Game to Worthington.
Good luck to Worthington in regionals.
