It's going to be interesting to see who gets the GK job at 'Creek... Steve Drain or Nick Koroscil.
Koroscil should get the first start since Drain has to pay for a red card he got in his last JV game last year.
Word on the street is that 'Creek has 23 seniors who will be trying out this year. Wow...

he didnt even make alternate. and high school? how far did his team get?
his club team is good but with them in the da league they dont play any ohio teams anymore so we dont see how good they have gotten.
he is a great keeper yes but the best no question. thats where im getting at. jack arnold of wayne is a great keeper and same with ryan hullings.

odp: 2006 made the 1991 Region 2 squad, didn't go last year b/c of an injury
high school: what does his team's accomplishment have to do with his talent or ability, he was one of the few juniors to get All-City recognition and was made All Southwest, Colrain also had one of the better defenses in the city
i've never played with arnold or hullings so i can't comment on them, but in my opinion Morgan is the best returning keeper next year

Who is drinking the kool-aid for DA. While it has many good teams, they do not have the best teams in the country and certainly not the best in Ohio. I don't think OEs U16 team has won a game in the league - which is exactly as one could expect as they didnt' do well in states or leagues last year.
Crew is doing well but over half their team is from PSA and the ones that do play from Columbus were developed by Team Ohio, who isn't in the Academy plus the Crew bought the U18 team from the Eagles.
I know this is about keepers but just can't stand the DA is the best ever -

Niner,
I'm not sure where you are coming from on this. 'Creek, like most high schools, has had a senior for goalie for their varsity team for multiple years in a row. The junior goalie gets a few minutes, but the senior gets the majority of the playing time unless you have a goalie like Luthy who then ends up at Friedle's Academy. Creek has two senior goalies this year, Drain and Koroscil. Drain played JV all last season. Koroscil dressed for Varsity all last year and got some playing time during the Beavers nice run.
Now, if you are asking about Koroscil's "big game" experience in club soccer, then that's a good question. I don't know the answer to that one.

this is ridiculous. You all talk about playing with or against kids. Most all of you are players in this age group, and therefore, are so subjective.
You are all fighting for your friends and teammates. Seriously, just try to be a bit objective. Because it gets personal and is a joke because its so subjective.
If you are trying to get anything out of reading this site, do some good for everyone, and give them some unbiased, objective info.

I've seen some if not all these goalies play...All have had nice games against good compitition. Arnold from Wayne is the real deal, not done growing or learning. Next year as a senior he should really shine. If Creeks 2 senior goalies take it lightly....Dorn ( Junior ) might pass them up, why keep 2 senior goalies. If there is indeed 24 seniors trying out....the odds of the team being made up of all seniors is zero. No way they do that to the program. There will be some Juniors on that team...and Dorn just might be one of them if there is a lack of effort at preseason workouts.

They have a Jr named Dorn who could step up if neither Drain or Koroscil step up. I agree with you...Creek is loaded this year. They will have a new turf field to play their home games on so they won't have to readjust when the playoffs come. It's gonna be fun to watch.

If you want to talk about decorated, look no further than Justin Luthy of Dublin Jerome. He did not play for Jerome last year because he was at PSA in northern ohio, where he was a member of the Crew Academy U-16 team, and was also called up to the U-18 team and was part of their finish as the third best team in the nation.
Also this past year he trained with Blackburn of the EPL. He was consistently a member of Regional ODP teams, but did not participate this year due to the limitations of the Developmental Academy.
Not too many Columbus goalies have been discussed and there are many that deserve to be.

Dorn not only made Varsity....he started the Opener. I know Drain is unable to play due to a Red Card last year so game three may be different. The other senior may be hurt, I don't know. ....I was wrong in the fact they kept 18 seniors, but Dorn played well enough to get the game 1 start.
Arnold ( Wayne )so far has one shutout, but then gave up 2 goals to Carroll at home last night in the 2-0 loss to the Patriots.

I have to say that Arnold is a great goalie and Wayne is lucky to have him. They are essentially playing a player up on the other team as Arnold is able to free up a defensive position when it comes to taking kicks. I would easily predict that he will be on the scoreboard himself this year.
As for Carroll, it is impossible to believe that a class act like the Carroll coach will put up with the embarassing, disrespectful and childish behavior of the Carroll team captain. My prediction is that the Carroll coach will handle it--- if his parents haven't already dragged him in to apologize to his coach, team, the Wayne coach and the officials.
Hulings is head and heels above Osswald, just as good as Morgan. Austin bobbled a ball up his chest and off his face for the second goal in their first loss. Teepen from Oak Hills and Gates from Turpin are probably the other best keepers in Cincinnati.

Really - we'll ultimately see when college's come a calling. Morgan beat out Hulings even though mom was involved in the ODP stuff. Plus "head over heels" is a big statement. I've seen Hulings make his fair share of mistakes - pretty undisciplined style and slower off the line - doesn't have big time game experience like Morgan who plays for Development Academy Ohio Elite and Osswald who plays for State Champion Team Ohio. Everyone makes mistakes - so Morgan had his one for a while - maybe first game jitters - who knows - both IMO have better college potential than Hulings, although he is a good keeper.

arnold of wayne will keep that team in some games. i could see him ending the year with 3-4 assists and maybe some goals. he is freakishly athletic and i saw him make some saves the other night against tipp. im not sure many other keepers would have stoped those. if the defence.(mainly kyle shrewsburry) can stay healthy i could see them making a good run at the gwoc central.

I've seen two that are very solid. Morgan on Colerain and the kid from Mason.
Miles something. BUT when you people make your picks are you taking into consideration who they have in front of them. The defenders in front of a keeper make all the difference in the world. I judge by athleticism, body type, quickness, brains, etc. Just because you have a certain number of shutouts means boo if you never have to touch the ball.

detailoriented, you judge a keeper based on the saves and decisions they make in a game. Defenders have to do with the play of the game, not the play of the goalkeeper. I havn't seen on any of these posts where a goalie has been given credit for something that the defense has done, besides maybe a shut out. And have you actually seen these two goalies play this early into the season or are you basing your opinion from other posters. You don't seem too busy for a college coach in season when you have all this extra time to post. I thought you guys did this during club. Not very professional.

I have never talked to a school yet that said they have recruiters out and about at HS games ( regular season ) just looking over players....looking for that needle in a haystack. I have heard once a player submits his schedule....playoffs, that coaches will try to attend so they can see good players playing against good competition....not good players playing their everyday schedule. The coaching staff at most schools are understaffed to begin with....for them to free you up during the regular season to watch games....must tell you something : )
1) Gates Turpin the best
2) Teepin Oak Hills number 2
these two are very close call.

A good goalie is one that the defense he backs feels confident in. Too many
saves? Work on defense. Shutout. Pat the defense on the back 1st.

I've seen Indiana coaches at two high school games this year so I guess they do get out an watch players they want to see. I know of someone who was contacted by Indiana the week after the game so it does happen occassionally
sean teepen has looked very good this year and is easily the second best keeper in cincinnati. anyone know what schools he is talking to?

that's a knee slapper
We'll see floridafutboler08 - time will tell. I know patriot soccer is a former teammate so he is in the know. Conversion of interest is another matter but I know the interest is there by some of the mentioned teams in addition to some others.

as for class of 2011- Galloway(CCD) and McNamara(SH)
two very strong, young keepers
Galloway has made a name for himself despite the weaker defense this year for CCD

Great point....just because you see one....does not make you one. At the Creek vs Centerville game last week UD, Wright State, Wilmington & OW all had people there....why...because it was # 2 in the State against last years # 1 team. Not because they had nothing better to do. They were there for a purpose and it was after the Sept date that they can contact players. They were not out earlier than that. They were not looking for prospects by searching the internet.

the og- this is tommys back up keeper. he is a boss
alright that's fine just wanted to make sure you were not tommy george. it would be sad for someone to come on here and hype themselves up like people have done in the past, specifically goalkeepers.

Alec Gates is awesome. He is a threat from all over with his punts, and free kicks. Not too sure about the source, but I hear he scored on a free kick this year? He made some great saves last night too. Great keeper.

to academy, players have off games, mistakes happen.
to minuteman, how are you going to say he's not too good. he makes some SPECTACULAR saves. I've played with 3 of those keepers mentioned and he is without question to me just as good as those keepers. In disney he had colleges such as duke and harvard asking about him, but unfortunately his gpa is sub-par for those colleges.

its all about consistency and he doesnt have it.
i see him play all the time and he has great games then poor games. He needs to have better consistency to be on the top gk list. He just doesnt have it

gates scored the winning goal for turpin vs. lakota west. unassisted free kick from 70 yds out. he also received the shut out for the game. how many keepers can say they did both in the same game?

Thats quite an accomplishment! But my question is how do you score on a free kick 70 yards out with no one else getting a head on it or a simple flick?

ball cleared entire field over everyone's head to within 6 yds. keeper came out, misjudged the ball and went into goal.

many of these keepers have a solid defense in front of them to help them look better
