I don't understand how people in the school district that I go to, have a problem last offseason by hiring the Varsity Boy's Soccer coach as the Varsity Girl's Soccer Coach as well. The school is public.
Anyone see any problems?

The only problem I see is how the coach will stretch his/her time between the two teams. I know the amount of time that the men's and women's coaches put in at our school, and I don't see how one person person could effectively perform both jobs.

At the Division II level in college a lot of schools have one coach for both genders. The only negative I see if the coach is willing to accept the extra time is that one of the teams will have to practice later in the day after school. It will make scheduling games a nightmare as well. He better have two great assistant coaches to handle training sessions when he is at a game. It could work but for how long; I can't imagine a coach trying to sustain a program under those conditions for several years - He will absolutely burn out.

i agree, this would be extremely difficult on the coach! he/she would eventually burn out before 1 season.
also, you're dealing with 2 different styles of play. the boys are obviously going to play much differently than how the girls would play! you're dealing with two different mindsets also. it would be difficult..that is probably the reason!

yes...she also go fired from the boys coach after going 9-59 in the past 3 years or something like that..she spent most time with girls team...i believe a coach should be for only one team....the people need that bond with the coach to do the best they can

so she's not coaching the mens soccer team anymore? I never heard that she got fired. she's still on their website as the coach. (???)
for nine straight years until this past season, there was only one coach for the mens and womens soccer programs at Urbana University.
I'm not too familiar with those programs, but I know that the womens team did pretty good this year. The coach that used to coach both teams is now the womens coach and holds the title of Director of Soccer Operations.
That still seems like a big load to carry.

Yes, this is true. The College of Mount Saint Joseph Soccer Program has a Women Coach for both the Men's and Women's Teams. I personally, think each team should have it's own coach.
And from what I hear she did not get fired yet. That she is still technically the coach, but it is uncertain as too if she will be the Men's Coach next season.
