DLS top opponent, according to calpreps, is rated higher than any team ST X played this year
and DLS did not need 3 overtimes to win by 3 points
or almost lose when the opponent was within about 10 yards from the end zone as time ran out as in the Ohio semis
congrats DLS

Calpreps is a joke and you know it.
my answer is all we hear all day long is the ohio boys touting calpreps SOS and how that proves ST X is the best team in the nation
well calpreps ranks DLS ahead of St X
I will only say that despite the flaws, ST X can crow all day long about their SOS according to calpreps, now they can also eat their humble pie as DLS is ranked higher by the saem site: calpreps

DLS's overall schedule isn't close. Not remotely.
Only 5 DLS opponents even hit the Top 1000.
Only one of X's opponents isn't amongst the top 1000.
DLS didn't play several hours from home with a new QB, did they?
Per calpreps, DLS played roughly one tough opponent all year. In that game, they managed to blow a 24-point lead and damned near lost. One tough game and they're choking and cleaning their shorts out. But you want to be the monkey throwing poop at X? You must be joking.

all those bomberblueboys that crow about SOS for ST X (using calpreps) can now read and weep
DLS #1 ranked team on calpreps
cant have your cake and eat it too
DLS outscored 13 opponents 392--28 in the first half
including a team ranked higher than anybody ST X played
St X gave up 24 points in one first half
and nearly loss to an unranked team, taking 3 overtimes to win by 3 points
and came within a few seconds (extension) of losing a game they were barely leading 10-7 when the opponent was driving for the winning score
calpreps DLS #1

current #1's for 7 separate polls\
MNW 4
St X 2
DLS 1
it has been said (see colerain SLC 2004 and Lakeland SLC 2005 etc) that a number 1 ranking in at least 1 poll allows a claim to a national championship)
so 2007 national champs (at least 1 poll) are
MNW
and
ST X
and DLS

and lets not forget calpreps predicted DLS to lose against CC
and despite a Halloween 12 minutes in the 4th Q, (once a year nightmare events - safeties, 2 point conversions, a WR reverse pass in which Czyz was 12 yards behind the defenders only to have a sure TD turn into a pick) in which Centennial sccored 24 points to tie the game....
DLS dominated a team that's LOWEST point total of the year was 31 points, 31-7 after 2 1/2 Q and after surviving the Halloween onslaught, came back like champions and put together a TD drive, a big 4th down stuff and a pick to seal the game
Czyz was faceguarded and interfered with on that one pass in the endzone (even the SoCal announcers said as much) and the comments were that despite 7 face masks, CC got away with way too much
but the better team still won

its funny
DLS wins a playoff game 50-15 and drops from 3 to 8
they win a section championship game 37-0 and drop from 8 to 13
they win a state championship 37-31 and go from 13 to 1

Sure must be nice to be able to argue about who is the top team in the country!
No thanks, I'll take my 14-1 2007 Ohio Division 4 State Champion team any day of the week.
These national polls are great for folks who want to get their panties in a bunch about their all-powerful team and its being shafted or crowned king of the hill.
Again, no thanks. I'll sit back with the rest of the commonfolk and get lost in anonymity.
Well, I guess Coldwater's not COMPLETELY anonymous on the national scene. The boys did get a couple mentions for knocking Mooney off the top of the heap!!!

consumerman,
Congrats to DLS from St X!!
Undefeated, state champs, #1 in the national poll...can't ask for the kids to do more. Well done.
As for all of the "bickering"...NWN, DLS and X can all claim #1...based on different polls. I am glad that all three are ranked #1 in various polls. I honestly believe that any of the three could beat any of the others on a given day on neutral fields.
Enjoys the accomplishment with the DLS faithful. From St X , a heartfelt congrats.

thank you for you nice comments
I am used to someone saying Team X played a better schedule or Team M has better athletes but rarely saying DLS had a great season and congrats,
you have class

Be careful what you say about DLS strength of schedule. The DLS schedule is rated 18 points weaker PER GAME than the StX schedule (assuming you believe Calpreps).
Congrats to DLS regardless.

MNW would "roll" DLS; Coldwater probably could give them a game. Calpreps sucks because they diss Florida, it's so evident. That is the matchup I would want to see. Florida vs. California.

Yes, Consumerman, be careful.

Are you seriously arguing that the DLS schedule is on the same planet as the StX schedule?
Yeah, DLS played the #11 team but after that you will find 10 StX opponents that are all ranked higher than the 2nd best team that DLS played. The two schedules aren't even close.

No.
Unless Yappi has a feature where you can draw pictures with crayons of various colors, I don't know that there is a way to explain it so that you can understand it.

Well . . . . I suppose his argument that turn about is fair regarding the Calpreps model has merit, however, coming from a guy who has trashed the model many times the argument seems shallow.
Also, any arguement that DLS played anything close to a tough schedule is a total joke. Further, making an argument that DLS should claim a national title is very, very thin.

Probably . . . but to bad about Canyon, Clovis West, Mission Viejo, Bellvue, and the four other teams they didn't beat recently.

Canyon in 2006
that sums up ALL the opponents that have beat DLS since 1991

Sure, you go undefeated and win a state championship in the largest classification of the largest state in the country, and you're just reaching to think you might have a claim to #1 in the country.

Plus the two more games that DLS didn't win in 2004. That's makes the eight in my post.

Congrats on your National Championship in Calpreps. So you agree Texas was 1970 National Champions!
By the way the Calpreps is not final. There is one week of high school football remaining. I am not sure why everyone else has already finished. Katy will probably surge in week 16.
By the way you are right DLS. They have played highest ranked team between DLS & St X. But do you realize that St X holds positions 2-11, 13 & 14th, and are tied on #15. DLS has played the 8 weakest teams. I will allow the readers to come to their own conclusions.

This is incredibly dumb. As a DLS fan let me put this out there:
In no way does any DLS fan believe a Calpreps #1 translates into a #1 ranking.
Furthermore in my own estimation St. X deserves the MNC this year for having a schedule where 9 regional or national ranked teams were beaten by the Bombers this year, according to prepnation.com
And that ends this discussion IMO.
DLS won a state title and deserves top 5 billing, but MNC status? That should be St. X's honor....this year.....

yes
3 separate teams show at least 1 number 1 ranking and MNW has the most 4
in the old olympic judging, they used to take out the highest vote and lowest vote for each team or athlete and then added the rest
if they did that, MNW 24 disappears as does one of their 4 1's and they rule the roost by far

The average ranking would be:
MNW: 1.4
X: 1.8
That's "by far"? One poll switches them and it's tied. Get a clue.

I got to watch a lot of the teams this year and I think that X and DLS would be a very good game. I think Booker T Washington beats them both and MNW beats them all. I think MNW raises its level to what it needs to. Watching X and MNW from an objectionable seat makes it pretty easy to see who wins this matchup.
Now the game I would like to see would be 04 Colerain line up against the Bulls. That would be a game.
Dublin Coffmans defense stifled X. Can you imagine what the Bulls would do? X would probably score 7. The Bulls would pull it out about 21-7.

I kinda agree with you. MNW is #1 and BTW is top 5 maybe even 3. This is a good year for Florida Football, However
If all these top teams played each other, I bet it would turn out Team A beats Team B- Team B beats team C- Team C beats Team A.
People forget about matchups. Who is the best team in College this year? They all have losses.
