I have seen jerseys that players have been wearing that are very unique. They are green with "CUP Arsenal" on them. Anyone know what this is about?

in the younger age groups theyre doing CUP Arsenal and CUP LUSC, kind of a feeding poll when they get older. And the older age groups are now going to change to CUP Crew. 15's and 17's will get the black and gold jerseys in the spring and they others will get them next year.

from what i hear.. this new murge to form a "super team" is to combat this new DESA league (think thats what its called). From what i have heard it is a new national league that clubs such as Eagles FC and others have joined. Supposively these new league members only play amongest themselves. None of the teams in the DESA play in other leagues such as the Buckeye and the big news is they will not be attending state cup. dont know if any of this is true. this is all from hearing different things. Any of it have any validity?

hellfirestriker that's pretty much true, basically if you're a DA team you only play DA teams. So no state cup, odp, or in special tourneys they have their own bracket like disney.

I have been saying for years this is a smart move for CUP to make. When you look at "rankings" on the national websites such as www.nationalsoccerranking.com or on www.gotsoccer.com, they base club rankings typically on your cumulative performance from U8 on up. CUP has traditionally only existed from U15 and now from U14 starting last year. Since they can only win state cups, tournaments and leagues for five years in effect as they exist right now, they are nationally ranked lower than what they should be. If you take performance from U15 to U19 only as a club and compare it to other national clubs, CUP is easily a top 25 national club. They would rise in years' time from in the mid 100's as a national club to top 20 with the addition of the performance of Lakota, Warren County and Sycamore. This is how Vardar is ranked so high. You have Vardar North, Central, South and East from U8 on up. The second reason, I think, is so that CUP can prepare to be the Crew Juniors for Cincy in the older groups. And if they wanted to take OE's place as the Developmental Academy team for Cincy in the future, they would have the "structure" in place to do so. OE's performance as a club (even with U8's on up) would pale compare to CUP's success in comparison. It is a move that will move CUP to the unquestioned number one club in Cincy and for that matter all of Ohio.
i don't believe that...what about Ohio F.C.?

CUP doesn't want into the developmental league, and the Crew Juniors thing isn't for sure yet.

Do the math yourself. Go onto Gotsoccer and add all the titles, tournament wins, etc. for Ohio FC. Then add all the state titles for CUP combined with Lakota, Sycamore and Warren County. It's not even close.

Based on Gotsoccer.com, total points for tournament, state clubs, regional leagues etc:
CUP (with Lakota Sycamore and Warren County) 12699
Team Ohio FC 8873
Regionally, this would place CUP (based off '07) as fourth in region, between Carmel United and St Louis SC and 23rd nationally (one ahead of Carolina Elite).
This is all based off of Gotsoccer.com, which I know is not a great website, but it uses similar criteria to what the other ranking sites use.

Soccer America ranked Ohio FC (Team Ohio) as 17th best club in the country - no other Ohio team is in top 25. Ohio FC has sent at least 3 players to National team in last 3 years so don't disparage that club when compared to CUP - TO had 5 state cup champions teams last year. How many did CUP have?

I am not arguing which club is better. If CUP adds the other clubs in they would have had four state titles and nine finalists total. When you include girls accomplishments, one national final and the balance top to bottom for boys and girls you would have to have CUP in the top 25 and IMO, which you may disagree with, the top club in Ohio IF they merge with Lakota, Warren County (one state champ and two finalists last year) and Sycamore (two state finalists) As it stands now you are comparing apples and oranges. How can you say Ohio FC is better than CUP when CUP has only been U14 for two years now? At the older age groups you don't see Ohio FC's name a whole lot and none on the girls side. If they merge the so-called experts will determine who is "better" but all I'm saying is I would not be surprised at all to have CUP then ranked top ten in the region.

And by the way, Soccer America said 17th best BOYS club in America, not 17th best club.

Ohio FC is a Boys club only but if you matched them up with their sister club Ohio Premier you would in fact find an equally recognized girl's club.

It will not even be debated because the merger was voted down by the other clubs. They did not see the value of being part of CUP. Soccerwatcher, you basically prove my point anyway with OH FC. I did not know that they are affiliated with Ohio Premier and if I did not know that, I'm sure that out of state soccer tournament committees do not know that. If they are sister leagues, why not combine? It gives you added press and college exposure. I'm all for Ohio South teams doing well nationally. Most areas outside the country think OH South soccer is bad. It's all about how you promote it.

So what does that mean Rohbino? Without Warren County being part of the merger, that would really limit the strength of the club, especially on the girls side. Also, does that mean that Warren County could reconsider with more information provided to them?
