My proposals are going to be Unlimited weight for C, B, and A. JV weight 130 and Varsity Weight 140. I spent time in Florida talking to different teams from around the country to see what works for them. This seems to be were people are going to. I want a weight limit on Jv and Varsity so the smaller kids can still play and the bigger kids can play Middle School. Let me know what your thoughts are on this proposol.
I also wanted to clearify why league officials do spot weigh ins it is because in the past we had a lot of coaches from different teams making deals with each other. I do agree that one rep from each team should be at the weigh ins.

No offense but what you are doing over their in Springfield will destroy youth football. People in Springfield will have an option if the so called BYF league steps in. There is a article in the SYFA constitution that says if a orginzation goes to a different league then anyone living in that area can go play with another SYFA team. So go ahead and screw up your youth program we will be happy to take the people that dont want to go. You do not have the numbers to do this and you will ruin it for your kids mark my words.

Where can I get this so called FAIR constitution? In the disrimination library? Really, if the people of Springfield wan't to go another way then whats the problem? You leave us alone and we will leave you alone. If it happens it happens'

I coached in Springfield in the 80s and have many friends in the youth organization and I hate to see what happened over here happen in Springfield. As far as the Constitution goes I have dozen of copys any one in my organization is able to get a copy. If you want a copy let me know and I will get you one I can also show you all the emails and things that went on over here.

green pride, I hope you dont take this personal. The powers that be inspringfield that are inquiring about the bfl are looking out for the best interest from top to bottom.
They would say in the current syl if they would make the changes that accomodate springfields future. That being, youth varsity 6th grade down unlimited, and jr high program will be up and running. They would believe that they have a true feeder system for the high school. And no longer two programs fighting for the same cause.
And Paul, were not saying the current league is bad , there is allot of tradition and great memories in the syl. But it does not fit the plan for a new spartan future.

I like the proposal, but what are the thoughts, from people on the SYF Board? Are they willing to negotiate weight increases?
When will the next Meeting take place, and will the public be invited?

All that matters is that any kid that wants to play football be given the oppertunity. With the current SYF system that is not done. Bigger kids are left out. This new league will give ALL kids the oppertunity to play. How can anyone possibly say that is bad? If it's all about the kids, then it should be all about ALL the kids. If all you SYF guys really cared about ALL the kids you would be trying to help the black stripe league and then maybe both leagues could coexist. I think there are enough kids in Springfield to support both leagues. I think there are so many people fed up with how youth football has been being ran that, that's why their numbers are down. Get better leadership and maybe you'll get your numbers back!

You are not looking at my proposal. All kids will be able to play with my proposal. c,b,a would be unlimited you have weight limits for jv and varsity so little kids get to play and the bigger kids play middle school. What is the problem with this proposal? This lets every kid play and you are still playing the best competition not a Doylestown or Revere. Fix what we have starting something new is not the answer fix what you have. Everyone has talked for 2 months on what they would change but you are not letting the league do this. Changes in the constitution can only be done at the beginning of the year give the league a chance to make changes before you take your ball and go home. I know many of you in Springfield and many are friends, I also know the people that started and run the other league this is not a good fit.

There isn't enough players for both leagues. We have to keep these kids motivated to come back and play. Dude everybody wants to jump ship out of Springfield. I don't care if my kid is the only one on the team he has the heart to stay there and fight. Springfield is his stomping ground and if these kids want to whine about springfield sucks Then dont let the door hit ya in the azz. ---- I just got into a fight with my son dom and his friend zack wanting to go to coventry. I just wanted to freekin puke. These kids dont know the meaning of respect. If we can build up the high school team to were there is a kid waiting for the other kid to screw up so he can get the position, you wouldnt have, like in my case spoiled kids. We need numbers plain and simple.

Ok then..........you want numbers.........you have a proven system in place.....are there flaws yes.........every organization has them......Are you telling me that if CBA goes to unlimited weights......to allow everyone a fair shake.....and get your linemen some extra training before High School.(which, as I recall, is one of your major sticking points).....then you guys would stay in the SYF? You have a new director, another one of your sticking points, sounds to me like you have a pretty level headed Coach in Irish 87................Things look positive for Springfield...........why then would you leave?

don't get me wrong I'm in favor of change whether you stay or go.....I am not an apeaser...........but if all of your arguements are gone.....then what's your point for leaving? I just don't get it.......leave one of the most competitive leagues in Northeast Ohio for a league that has 4 teams? Doesnt make sense to me.

You guys need to look at the big picture. Springfield will never pass a levy. Pay to play......makes it hard to field a high school team, let alone a competative one. I read the other posts, I see Ellet wants to drop Springfield from its schedule because of points......the people in Springfield that refuse to support the kids in the community and pass a levy ought to be ashamed of themselves. What I'm trying to say is it doesn't matter how good your Pee Wee football system is when the kids grow up and open enroll to schools that get community support. I'm sure most of the guys who post on here vote for the levy, but I know some people personally that have kids in the system that refuse to vote for a levy. Am I happy about what has happened to Springfield? Of course not!! I bleed red & gray as much as anyone, but I refuse to let my kids go down with a sinking ship!

Buckeye, you have to deal with the cards that are dealt to you. Do you really think a 60 year old lady living on a fixed income cares whether or not we have sports at the high school? From what I have heard there won't be a pay to play next year. That is a start. So much going on behind the scenes it has me boggled. And I mean good things. Hang in there and keep up the fight for a better s.y.f.l. By the way is your boys still wrestling? Them some bad little dudes, could be the best.

But again, why does everything have to be dealt with, "behind the scenes" ? If the High School has a plan to make things better in the Community, why not come out and tell people? Why is everything such a secret in this Town? If the H.S. wants a better Youth program, why not invite the current systems Organization, to sit down and discuss? I don't understand this. This is how persons toes get stepped on as well as rumors start.
Lets talk people.

Irish,
That's is exactly what you need to do, but I think some people just don't want their ideas to be challenged by other people who may have better suggestions.

I wish it was only the little old ladies living on fixed incomes that vote no on the levies. It's not! I've talked to three different guys my age with kids in the system that refuse to vote for a levy. At first I thought it was the elderly people in the community voting them down too, and I agree with you, why should they care if there's sports or not? The ones that get me are the people who won't vote for a levy because they think the $$$$$ is going to go for new sidewalks or something. That's ridiculas! Believe me, if I ever win a big lottory I will donate a bunch to the schools to get them back where they should be, but what are the odds of that happening? I don't know the answers, and other different circumstances I would lead the charge for change, but after talking to certain people it's like beating a dead horse. Yes, my boys are still wrestling, and doing pretty good.

Dont blame the little old ladies.......How is your Administration using your current funds? Hey, build apartments and duplexes...renters dont give a darn if the taxes go up....they don't think that they are actually paying for it.
