In D1, Milford has an amazing to-be senior class, Fairfield returns a lot, sycamore should be decent, return Lavigne
In D2, don't really know yet, Finneytown returns a lot especially kozy, Batavia?
In D3, Seven Hills returns Fink, and Cincinnati Christian returns Hoop, Summit should be the best

Summit returns 11 starters from what I remember. SH returns 8. CHCA has George, a great player as well that shouldn't be overlooked, and Mariemont has White and a couple others I believe.

What else does CHCA have besides Andy George returning? Because your right he is a great player, but it would be tough to try and carry a team for a whole year without any supporting cast. He is a player that has really impressed me from last year to this year though.

In D1 i think Milford will probably be the team to beat, but don't overlook Mason because they have players waiting to step in for this years seniors.

CHCA returns six starters including Andy George. Two freshman with two other freshman getting good minutes this year and will contribute next year. Two starting sophomores plus Caleb Grisell's younger brother, Daniel, as the goalie. One starting Junior with two other juniors starting next year. That doesn't include a strong group of incoming freshmen that are playing on the CUP Red team.

They will not have the talent they had this year but they will be able to reload and challenge for the MVC league title again. Summit will be the team to beat with their entire starting 11 returning. I would guess they will be the preseason #1 in the state. Hopefully they will get their goalie back as well.

Division I- Milford will be unstoppable, St. Xavier will be decent
Division II- Finneytown will be amazing, Wyoming will be ok
Division III- Summit will be the best, Seven Hills and CHCA will follow

How can nobody mention Madeira in D3? Come on 8 straight District Titles. They won't just disappear.

My top 10:
1) X-all levels are extremely good. Downfall will be the keeper position.
2) Milford-returns alot of experience with speed. Downfall is the defense. If keeper doesn't make poor decisions come tournament time, they could win region 4.
3) Fairfield-young this past year, improved all season. JV had some good looking payers on it.
4) Sycamore-lavigne will be city POY, team will be tough
5) Mason-their JV was good, had good freshman as well
6) West- Figured they are always up there.
7) Elder- JV went 12-1-3. Returns some good players up top, in the midfield, and on D.
8) Loveland- don't know, always competes
9) Anderson- don't know
10) Lasalle- always has 2 or 3 players that carry the team

Bubble:
East-don't know anything about them
Oak Hills-might surprise a few people with a new coach
Winton Woods- All I know is Spencer will be back.
Colerain- returns a couple, but JV wasn't so great
Walnut Hills-I think they actually return all their good players, just don't know if they are replacing graduates with better players.

7-10 is a toss up. Milford will be good, but not unstoppable...not enough depth. I think X will win region 4 if they stay healthy.
Did I forget anyone worth mentioning?

Carroll is pretty loaded for next year. They made it to the Regional Semi's and only graduate 5 seniors this year, but they were all very good seniors. I believe that Carroll can make it very far next year. Even if they dont next year, they had a lot of sophomores on the team this year so i believe that they will make it far next year and the year after.

gview - Are you Unger's agent? He couldn't find a greater advocate than you, HaHa. Unger told me that his team doesn't have a Bascom and Templeton to step in and take their place. I tried to schedule them for a home-and-home and he declined.

I know he sandbags worse than anyone but this time I believe him.

I dont think X should be number one...maybe 2 or 3 but they will ahve no downfall at the keeper position...John Fiester is a great goalie and will be one of the best in the city next year...so i really don't see a downfall in this team

Some of Elder's juniors won't be returning next year, as of now at least. That could hurt.

I see Milford above St. X though. I saw both Milford and St. X play a few times, and unless St. X kids really break out I see Milford number 1.

I agree. Johnny is an amazing keeper. I think that St. Xavier will have a very good season.

Oakhills could turn out to be a surprise in the GMC. They don't have many returning juniors but they have plenty of returning sophmores from varsity and many moving up from J.V. Not to mention sean teepin in the goal and a new look at the coaching position they could do well the next two years.

I agree! I'm already looking forward to next season. When you have back-to-back JV teams that only lose 1 game each season and you have 15 kids coming back on varsity, its reasonable to be optimistic.

In addition to the terrific juniors you mentioned (who should be the core of a very strong senior class) they have the Hanson kid (#21) coming back and he was a tank out there last season. I also remember a bunch of other kids who were fast and aggressive that will be coming back. FF looks to be top 5 in Cincinnati D1 next season.

hanson is a great player...he is swedish so you know he has to be good...also i hear he is a great kicker for football and i hope he comes out next year as a dual sport athlete

Never said I played for anyone. But I follow Oak Hills soccer (along with most Cincy schools) and I know they are going to get destroyed. Like I said before, yes we will see. We will see them get dominated.

I agree they lost most of their talent, but the team chemistry is still there.

No way West will finish top 6 in the city. Lost 10 starters and their entire defense this year. JV won't be able to make up for the defense that won them all their games.

Statechamps02

I think you're forgettin how many teams are losing many valuable players from this year. West has good coaching and I thought the JV did pretty well from what I heard.

Davidson should be pretty good next year. There were 23 on varsity this year and the lose 13 seniors but they should still be very competitive next year.

Mason Owns
12-26-07, 06:48 PM
Davidson will not be that good next year. And thats 23 kids on varsity for the tournament, I doubt, correct me if I'm wrong though, but are there 23 people on the Hilliard Davidson Varsity Photo? Colby, Sean, Jon, Jake, and Steven carried the team.

The people they have coming back that will have to play huge are Jimmy Caudill, Ryan Oseelbourne, Duncan, and if Drew Edler stays there, he will need to play huge.

At the same time, in 2 years I expect them to be competing past districts again like they have, just not next year. Worthington Kilbourne is the team to beat in central Ohio next year

HDvHS FAN
12-27-07, 10:41 AM
22 was the number on the origional varsity roster. Edler will be back. Fitz will be replaced by Adam Black. He's big and athletic and was on the undefeated JV squad last year who gave up 5 goals in 16 games. He practiced with V for this season and got some playing time.

HD Returns

So. Tyler Schoener (Game winning PK vs. Liberty)
So. JD Detmer (Assist in Elder semi-final game)
JR. Jimmy Caudill (CAPT) (Game winning goal in regional final)
Jr. Brent Harmanis
Jr. Ryan Osselborn (CAPT)
Sr. Matt Rasmussen
Jr. Duncan Campbell (CAPT)
Sr. Alan Hale
Sr. Drew Edler (CAPT)
So. Adam Black (CAPT)

Plus 3 players who moved up for the tournament
Jr. Luke Pugno
Jr. Mike Stephens
Sr. Jeffrey Cowles

Sorry, just because you make a PK that doesn't mean your going to be a good player the next year. Catlett missed his in the championship but he is still one of the best players in the state. JD Detmer will evolve into a good player by his junior year, his assist was a free kick that Catlett outjumped everyone on. Jimmy Caudill will be huge for the team. The 3 who got moved up for the tournament probably won't be to great considering they are all uppclassmen and are just now being put on varsity. I have heard rumors that Edler might transfer, you seem to know what your talking about though so i'll trust you.

But I stand by my initial opinion, in 2 years they will be good again, just not next year

i think beavercreek will be even better next year then last year they are returning 14 varsity players...There will be about 20 seniors and 1 junior im pretty sure for the upcoming season.

Milford has a loaded senior class. They are quick and they can score. As said earlier I think their downfall will be defense. Look for Tyler Urkamp to be a surprising impact player this year.

too bad he has no left foot. if he doesn't develop it he's too easy to defend, force him left.

I wouldnt count Turpin outta this. Nobody expected them to win many games this year but they ended up going undefeated in the FAVC and having one of the best defenses.
