Why is USA today poll considered better?

It seems like almost everyone considers this poll the "best" and most referenced... any reason for that?

It depends on your point of view

Back in 1994 and 1996, Mater Dei was USA Today's #1 ranked team, but calhisports had them rated #2 in the state behind DLS

they also would often have say a Pennsylvania team that didn't even play in Pennsylvania's top divison be rated #1 in the nation

they are readily available in print (since 1982) and online for quite some time
