Club traing during HS "season"

OHSAA bylaw 10-3-1 states:

A member of an interscholastic squad sponsered by the Board of Education or other governing board shall not participate in a contest, tryouts or any type of training or practices on a non-interscholastic squad or as an individual in a team sport (see Bylaw 10-3-4), in the same sport during the school's interscholastic sports season.

This would SEEM to say that NO member of any high school team whether varsity or jv can participate in club training while the "season" is continuing, and that even the non varsity players from a school would be prohibited while the varsity team is participating in the tournament.

Anyone know the "rule"???

this rule is true. if your season is still going on, you cannot do anything with your club team. however, if your season is over, you are free to do whatever you want. i would think that the non varsity players would be allowed to participate with their club teams, even if the varsity team is still playing. not sure though.

wow!...if the rule is read`literally, it does say that a member of a high school squad can't participate in club as long as that "SCHOOL'S" (not "squad's") season is continuing...presumably, that would mean tournament as well.....thats kind of tough on JV and Freshman players though.

Looked into this a few years ago, as long as the JV season is over AND he has no activity with the varsity team, he can train with club.

However, if he has been pulled up to go with the varsity team to tournament games, even if he sits the bench for every minute of every game, he CANNOT participate in club until the varsity squad's season is over.
