I have heard Anthony Meyer is looking at a smaller school that will let him play basketball and soccer. Not many schools will let him do that.

Robbie Haddick, he must be walking on. Not D-1 IMO. Meyer played for Cups 2nd team in the pass. Not sure who he's playing for in the spring.

I know Robby has been offered scholarships from several D1 schools including Xavier, St. Louis, Coastal Carolina, and I think George Mason, and I heard he was talking to Louisville as well
As far as Meyer I think he's still playing for Cup White

Yes Meyer is still playing with CUP white.. Suprised Dayes is pickin up so many from Ohio..usually doesnt recruit that many from around here (from past seasons). Congrats to everyone who commited.. This years senior class all over Ohio was amazing.. wouldnt be suprsied to see many more seniors start commiting..

Maybe he has great grades - a lot of schools want a kid that has good soccer skills and great grades since they've been burned in the past by one semester wonders who can't play their second season due to college grade ineligibility. Great grades also means academic money that saves the barely funded athelitic scholarships for those that can only qualify for those.

Both Aaron Schultz and Jeff Smoker from Finneytown are looking at NKU. Jeff is also looking at Bradley.
I know that Nick Williams from CHCA is talking with the Messiah College, a D3 powerhouse in Pennsylvania. I think they have one the D3 National Championship 3 years in a row now.

Messiah lost in the final 4 this year, Middlesbury won the national championship over trinity. if he can go to Messiah though, then thats impressive.
I talked to Smoker and he said he has an offer from Bradley but isn't sure if he wants to go that far away from home. He is visiting Wilmington College on Wednesday.

does anybody ever look at Mount St Joe? I know they haven't had a very good record so I would think that if you're a decent player & opted to go there, you might see a good amount of playing time. They have a pretty nice stadium there too. Just curious.
I also remember quite a few guys that graduated last year that were planning on going to Cincinnati State (grades..costs?). I wonder if there are many from this years senior class that are thinking of going that route too.

St joes is a young team i know of some dayton players who are thinking about commiting to msj, its a nice school i agree. Cicny state is also a fine institution, very talented players. Last years fr class had i think 3 all state players. In summary both are good schools.

Cincinnati state is more of a place to play for players who feel like they weren't given that good of a look in their recruiting years. Since almost 95% of the programs at cincinnati state are two year associate programs, players go there for 2 years expecting to get recruited by a good school. UC is recruiting more and more from cincy state every year. Look at Omar Cummings, who played at cincy state and transferred to UC...now he's in the MLS with the Colorado Rapids. Patrick Baxter is another phenomenal player at UC from cincy state. I had a few buddies that went there and went on to play at D1 and D2 schools.
MSJ is just an all around good school with great academics. If you're looking to have a chance at going farther than college, this is obviously not your school of choice. At cincy state, you have better options in the long run b/c D1/D2 schools recruit from junior colleges.
Just depends on what your looking for. But if you're planning on going to school for a bachelor's degree and attend cincy state...you will have to transfer from cincy state at some point in order to attain that.

I agree with you, cincy state constantly harbors kids with great talent that , when there two years are up, go to many fine different schools. I have a few friends who play there
now and they like the school and if you followed their season they did big things this year, only one loss? to i think medaille? I can wait to watch them next year.

Yeah, always tops in the nation....fun to watch. The great thing about cicny state is alot of them are from the cincy area that are making this team known nationally. you are right cincy state is always strong as far as junior colleges go. the players are always great players but lack the brain power to get thru the clearing house which is necassary to play in d1 or d2.So alot of players have no choice but to play at a juco school. Then after 2 years they just have to have the gpa to then get accepted to a d1 or d2 program. Alot of people do not know this. So the message is here, make sure if you want to play in college at a d1 or d2 school. Get the grades and apply to the clearing house early!that is if you want to have options and not settle for less.

I hear that ODU is trying to bring in some international players to try to be more competitive at the National level, It sounds like they want to be the next Rio Grande, although they competed pretty well last season with all Ohio boys on their roster. So be cautious when looking at that school.

Congrats!
However, I hope Case beats Chicago again next year. There is a lot of good DIII competition in the University Athletic Association.
It's a shame that John's Hopkins bailed out on the league. Emory, Rochester, WashU, and NYU were all in the top 25 at the end of last year. Case just finished on the outside of the top 25.

And McCarthy for that matter
HSsoccerfan63
03-05-08, 02:30 PM
I don't know anything positive but I also heard those same rumors. But D'amico if he is going to xavier may have gotten a guaranteed walk on spot. I believe this is what happened but i'm not positive. I do know that this happens often at the D1 level especially for a program like xavier that doesn't have full funding. And btw there are two players at xavier that are on close to full rides and one I believe that is on a full ride. And the rest have small amounts. But if D'Amico was going there on scholarship he would be on that list.

yeah, Case is a good team. Chicago was good team two years ago, but had a very down year last year. Maybe partly because of the strength of the UAA and their strong schedule in general.
Ohio Wesleyan is always great. With this class and the one before it, winning a national championship should be an expectation.

Brandon is going to Bowling Green, and about other kids from CUP RED Robby Hadick is at George Mason right now, he graduated high school in 3 1/2 years and went early but I believe he'll be back to play state cup and any further if that happens. Actually, you should always pick your college for the school first (does it have your major, would you still like the school even if your sport ended for whatever reason, is it a decent school academically, etc.) Then concentrate on your sport. I would also think anyone who has signed a LOI was definitely recruited for the sport. They may also be good students academically, but the coach wanted them for the sport, too! OK, enough of my sage advice...LOL...good luck to all the players in their new college adventures!
