If I had to pick four teams to win it, I'd go with...
Highland
Bay
CVCA
DeSales
If you asked me to pick one, I couldn't do it...

Not that I would pick DeSales to win it at this point either... I like the winner of the top half of the bracket (whoever it is) to win the state title...

I got CVCA winning it all if not this year than next year. We will be getting Ben Speas back who is at the Olympic development training center for soccer in Florida and is coming back next year. We will be losing a Key player Alex Sosler the goalie

I would pick CVCA, although I should add I'm slightly biased. CVCA played one of the toughest schedules in the state this year, and only lost one game, which was the epitome of unlucky. Also, the boys from CVCA can play beautifully, moving the ball and putting in some incredible goals, but they can also win the games that are complete battles. They have great defense, and a spectacular keeper.

CVCA over DeSales 1-0 in Columbus.

What a program!

The team that beat CHCA a few years ago in D3 and then won another title at d2 was one of the best small school teams I've ever seen. How many students now to have them at d2? Where do they get their players? What select programs feed the school Who is the coach after Belleman?

All I know, is that they consistently produce great teams.

Even better than what WCS does in Columbus and DC and CHCA in Dayton and Cincinnati.

CVCA should be DIII, but choose to play DII, I believe. The coach now is Jason Spodnik; fantastic guy, fantastic coach.

Sorry TwentyOne, but you don't get to choose. CVCA is D2 because of Student population (grades 9-11). The Membership directory is off-line at http://www.ohsaa.org/members.asp.

Oh. Ha, well thank you for correcting me.

CVCA must have gotten bigger without my noticing

Here's some info on the DeSales/Alter game tonight.

Focus on defense puts DeSales on top (http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2007/11/06/hs_soccer06.ART_ART_11-06-07_C6_4K8CTKA.html?sid=101)

While I think CVCA has the best chance this year in D2 to win the state title over Desales, there are a couple of clarifications needed to some of the statements above.

CVCA has only won the state title once, not twice, and that was in D3 in 2004.

In addition to the one loss, three teams tied them this year during the regular season, being Walsh Jesuit, Wheaton and Western Reserve. In order to get out of Districts they won 1-0 against a very tough Walsh Jesuit, and 1-0 out of the Regional Semi against a very tough Cardinal Mooney. Walsh and Mooney are every bit as good as CVCA.

As to long term records for producing great teams, CVCA is not one that meets even a mention against programs like Walsh (8 tournaments appearances, 3 state titles), N. Olmstead (8 & 4), Alter (7 & 4), or Desales (5 & 3), to mention only a few.

CVCA's feeder is its middle school, as well as club teams throughout NEO.

I was almost sure that they won another title after beating CHCA.

I see alter winning it after beating DeSales. Having played against Alter and having seen them play on many occaisions, they are a true class program and will be prepared.

Here's an article on the DeSales/Alter match...

Kettering Alter 1 DeSales 0: Stunning loss ends DeSales' run at title (http://dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2007/11/07/hs_soccer207.ART_ART_11-07-07_C3_748D7SG.html?sid=101)

I'm surprised that DeSales lost, to be honest. They really put it to Hilliard Davidson early in the season.

Nope. CVCA has only won 1 state title. That was in 2004 in DIII.
