Elder ball boys are no good. You need to get the kids, they get all fired up to throw you the ball...

Many teams have little kids and they can barely throw the ball. Would rather have JV or Freshman players personally.

i think they need to start training ball boys at a younger age in many parts of the state. they're just not getting the job done efficiently enough right now. maybe some summer ball boy camps or something... :)

My favorite are the Lakota East ballboys. These kids played for some club team and they were sitting on the balls, completely oblivious whenever they had to go get a ball or give one to a player. All the East kids were yelling at one for a ball and he just completely froze not knowing whether to give up the ball or just cry.

If i was a little kid, I'd be scared of some of those players yelling at me too.

haha i actually blew a game in a similar situation when i was about 8, there were like 10 seconds left and the ball came out right at the corner flag and the time expired because i wasn't paying attention...whoops

Its very difficult to find efficient, coordinated ball boys... some little kids are too excited or just suck. Some JV kids are uncoordinated or just dumb as rocks. The only way sift the good from the bad is to have excruciatingly intense ball boy tryouts.
Or capture them young and train them for years in the auxliary gym after school hours, feeding them only when they deserve it... at least thats what I am told Elder does.

Highland's...
At one game I remember, with about 10 seconds left in a one goal game a ball boy "accidentally" fired the ball past the opposing teams player going to take the throw-in. I have no doubt it wasn't anything more then a bad throw, but what great timing for the home team. Nothing like a home field advantage!!!
One of the greater threads I have seen on yappi!!!
