What a great day in LaSalle Golf History!
First time to state "ever" and District Champions over Moeller and St. X.
Matt Buse wins the District with a 73 at Weatherwax.
For all of you that discredited me in prior threads (remember, I said Matt Buse was the best and LaSalle is clearly the best golf team)......well, here is my State of Ohio prediction:
Chris Berger State Medalist
Saint Xavier State Champion
Congratulations LaSalle!!!!!!!!

What a great day (except for the temperature)! After the front 9 I didn't know if we could come back. But Buse came in with a 35 on the back to save us. And Congrats to LaSalle. But if it weren't for that hole in one, it'd be a 3-way tie for first.
And once again the GCLS proves who's best!

Once again, the GCL proves they are a step above all the publics in golf. Moeller and X continue to roll along and now Lasalle has jumped in the mix, while public "contenders" like East and Sycamore falter at districts. I've said it before and ill say it again, the publics in this area will never get respect until a program steps up and makes it to state in consecutive years. The Fairfield teams I was apart of couldnt seal the deal at districts, and now Sycamore and East have continued that tradition. Congrats to the Lancers, Bombers and Crusaders. Bring the state title back to SWO.
Coach Feldkamp (sp.?) from LaSalle put forth a notion that I had never considered when talking about yesterday's win when he mentioned the hard work of LaSalle's SWING COACH!!!
It's not that the families have money, b/c there are plenty of families who can pay for Junior to have golf lessons...but the school athletic budget must be pretty good to keep a SWING COACH on retainer for the season.
I don't want to take anything away from the kids from LS, X, or Moe...they have clearly worked hard during the season and before. But that is certainly a luxury that the VAST majority of OHSAA golfers do not enjoy.
(Oh, and the wedge shot that LS holed on the par 5 helped them to win as well - almost simultaneously as the ace)

Daddy,
Get your facts straight Moeller and St. X do not hire swing coaches for the team. Golf is too much of an individual sport for an entire team to take swing lessons from a single person. In fact I am pretty sure that a team that did not make it, Lakota East, has a head coach who is PGA Professional. On top of that schools like Lakota, Sycamore, Colerain probably have comparable athletic budgets to LaSalle, Moeller and St. X. In fact at Moeller you have to pay to play sports most are around $500. Just because they happen to be better doesn't mean that you need to try to diminish their accomplishments.

Instead of a swing coach our coach(Shircliff) takes us out on the football field and has us hit wedge shots to trash cans at various distances

I am pretty sure Colerain does not have as big of a budget than X or Moeller in that we get NXT's and dont have the 10,000 dollars a year per kid that GCL schools get

I think that you need to get your facts straight...I only said that LaSalle had a swing coach on retainer...I did, however, say that I didn't want to take anything away from any of the teams (LS, Moe, X) that advanced. They were / are among the teams that have performed well all year, and they definitely deserved to advance. If you thought that I was implying that they also have swing coaches on retainer, you are mistaken...I have no idea. The LS statement was simply reiterating what Feldkamp said in the newspaper.
Lakota East has a head coach that is a PGA Professional, which is correct. But he gets a district contract that is approved by the teacher's union...so it's not like they are paying him his normal hourly rate to work with the team.
Yes, the kids from Moe, X, and LS played the best when it counted. Congrats to them and best of luck in Columbus!

Eture,
Do you have to pay $500 to play at Colerain? If you don't then that should explain to you why Moeller gets ProV1s. And hardly any of the $10,000 per year goes to the athletic deparment.

You don't have to pay any money to play golf at X and you still get Pro V1's and I bet the La Salle "swing coach" probably just volunteers. I doubt he is at every practice or on the range before the round. He probably just goes and seems them hit balls every once in a while.
lasalle will whoop your a** without a swing coach...matt buse=short stack

Man, what an --- whoppin' LaSalle put on X at districts. How much did you win by? Oh yeah, that was 1 stroke.
Last time i checked it doesn't matter if you win by 1 stroke or 50 strokes a win is a win.

If i can remember right that lasalle had two eagle one being a hole in one does anyone from X want to tell me how many hole in ones X had that day.
What im saying is the only way LaSalle can beat X and Moe is with a hole in one and an eagle, any other day moe and X would beat Lasalle by at least 5 strokes.

yes and the eagle was a hole out from the fairway

congrats GCL! 6 straight trips to state for Moe (longest active streak in the state) and this is something like 4 straight trips for X. Bring the title back to Cincy boys!
