View Full Version : Is MOJO Back?
Odessa Permian of "Friday Night Lights" may be back. They are 3-0. They beat Euless Trinity soundly last week and beat Amarillo 56-7 this week.
This is a team that has to travel 125-300 miles (one-way) to many of their games because of the distances required in West Texas. I believe they traveled 250 miles to this game.
Enjoy

(By the way, Permian is playing Amarillo. Their name is the "Sandies". They have a large older stadium and you can see they get a lot of people at their games.)

Permian appeared to not be intimidated at all by "The Haka"

I guess if slc shows up on their schedule they will be an all time great power loaded with D 1 prospects
If they lose embarrasingly to an out of state team, they will be an old power in a down year that wont finish in the top of their district
isnt that the way it works?

Permian looked like an above average team to me. Trinity is just horrible. Their big o-lineman have horrible technique. They try to bully everyone with their size. If you watch the tape of the game Trinity o-lineman were standing straight up. They never stayed low.
Still, IMO it's nice to see them doing well again.

I agree. In my opinion it's a good thing in HS football to have the traditional powers strong, Permian/Moeller/Valdosta/etc.

I have no clue how good Permian is. Do you really think you can judge a team based on a clip?
I used to laugh at the "I saw you on TV and I wasn't impressed" opinions. I saw StX and DeMatha play on TV and I wasn't all that impressed with either of them. HOWEVER, I know StX has a great team. It's just that high school teams always look small and slow on TV.

A clip? I watched the whole game between Trinity and Permian. Ever hear of a thing called TIVO?

Thanks for the clarification. Regarding TIVO, yep, I have two of them (actually both of mine are Dish Network DVRs.)

1) Does anyone have this week's rankings for Texas 5A?
2) What are the chances that SLC and Katy end up in the same Division for the playoffs?

It doesnt matter
whatever division SLC ends up will be the most stacked and toughest tournament in the history of sports

I know.
I meant to address it directly to Pied (or Bordertown or WoodyHayes) to avoid that.

Here are a couple of links. Have not seen the AP poll, I think it comes out today.

It does not appear likely that Katy will be in D1, but district play is just starting so much can change.
