[B]Cincy MMA and Fitness[B] at 5728 Harrison Avenue has opened its new, top-flight MMA and Fitness center this week. Unbelievable facility with a variety of classes including kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling, muay thai, and tae kwon do. Also, the center offers aerobics, weight facilities, cardio equipment, and yoga and pilates.

With the blessing of many in the local MMA community, including Rich Franklin (his wife, Beth, attended the Open House this past Sunday), this state of the art facility is open for business!

Call or visit the web-site at 513.574.5253 or www.cincymmaandfitness.com. You'll be most impressed, however, with a visit to the place itself. Awesome!:) :) :)

Slammin'-
Larry Johnson and Nick Corey are handling the wrestling aspect. Doesn't mean that they won't need stand-ins on the occasions they can't make it (they're both married with kids, afterall:) ). If you know of anyone that would like to stop up and check things out (or you yourself!), right now they are only doing wrestling on Tuesdays from 6 to 7...that will grow as everyone's schedules shake out.

I already go out to Gurgel's gym. I still would like to come check it out. To get help on the wrestling part, you should talk to Justin Wilcox (as long as he did not go back to PA).

This is an excellent place to work out, their website is cincymmaandfitness.com. The instructors are all great and the price is more than worth it.

What is the price? and what does that price include?

They still have their introductory prices of $299.00 for level one and $349.00 for level two. Level one includes usage of all the cardio and weight equipment. Level two includes the same as one and all the classes that you want to take. The level two is a great deal and the classes are great and only getting better. Both prices are for a full year and are an incredible deal.

Can someone please give me a list of former wrestlers (recently) that are training in MMA fighting and trying to make it? I would appreciate it I'm just curious to whom?

I can tell you right now that there are a few fighters in the promotion I work close with that came from the Cincinnati area.. Nate Jolly of Roger Bacon/MSJ/Cumberland is 15 - 3 on a 13 win streak and just dropped the Welterweight Title to drop to lightweight before turning pro. Rob Mooney from Northwest High School/Cumberland is 7-0 at Light Heavy, Dustin Center from Mason/Cumberland is 4-1 holding the Lightweight Title and Josh McDade from Northwest High School is currently 2-0.... warriorfc.com

If you're into MMA and would like to find a super place to train, this is a new option. Gurgel's place is awesome, nobody can argue with that...this place will soon be known as another "awesome" option in Cincinnati.

What's very cool is folks at Gurgel's gym have given their blessing to this place. As mentioned earlier, Rich Franklin's wife, Beth, was at the open house that kicked things off for Cincy MMA and Fitness, and Gurgel and Franklin have given a bunch of signed things to the owners that are hanging in this new place. Classy.

Anyway, I'm unbelievably impressed with the place and what they've done with it. First class!

I went to the MMA class on Saturday and had a kick --- fun workout. I believe the introductory special may be extended another week so there is still an opportunity to get an awesome deal.

Another great place to train which has been around for several years and produced several championships is Cincinnati Mixed Martial Arts in Reading. They have instructors with experience in MMA, Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Jiu Jitsu. Check out the website or myspace.

I recently visited this gym myself and I must say it is first class! If you are from the west side Cincinnati area and are interested in MMA, I would highly recommend checking it out. It is very nice and there is no way you can beat their rates. I train and Gurgels because I have been there for months, but I have talked to them about Cincy MMA and Fitness and they too agree it is a great place and said they will do anything to help the sport of Mixed Martial Arts expand. So, check this place out!

Just to clear it up for everyone there are two gyms.

1. Cincinnati Mixed Martial Arts (a.k.a. CincyMMA) - located on Landy Lane in Reading, Ohio. This gym has existed since 2003 and has produced several championships as well as top 4 finishes in many tournaments. www.cincymma.com or myspace.com/cincymma

2. Cincy Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness - located on Harrison ave in the west side. This gym just opened on Sept. 17 2007 and has not yet had any fights that I am aware of under this banner.

Please dont confuse the two

I believe that the main focus of Cincy Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness is to provide a great place for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the various mixed martial arts. From what I have seen there will be people that will eventually fight under there banner. However producing fighters is not the gyms only goal. This is a place for the whole community that includes, fighters, Moms, Dads, Kids, and people of all ages who can come in and benefit from what the gym has to offer.

Im not at all disagreeing with you. However at CincyMMA we have all ages of students. Males and females. We even have some fathers that come to train with their son.
