I go to Mason

Mason 1
Anderson 0

Mason looked shaky in the first half but defense was solid, never really gave up a shot on goal the whole game. Game started to get dirty at the end of the first half. Mason came out and bascially dominated the second half but only scored one sloppy goal. A win is a win...

Madeira is not that good of a team this year... lol Monroe just sucked that game, they played a 4-3-3 with only one ceneter Mid the first half (3-0 @ the half). only have 2 good players #3 and #7, both easy enough to defend if your defenders have experance.

They like to play the ball into the corrners and they cross on the ground, not to bad.

Monroe played a 4-3-3 with only one center mid

Madeira's only good players are #3 and #7, and i think they only had like 5/6 real shots on Monroe. IMO if monroe would have played a 4-4-2 it would have been a hole differnt game. Monroe did play a 4-4-2 in the second half but the midfielder that played by himself was so tired in the second half it was like not even having him on the feild. Madeira is a good team but i would not worrie about them all to much.

no... their High School team beat us, just said the 2 good players they had on their team. Monroe lost 6/7 starters last year and it's a working progress to replace them.

I was at the Summit vs. Mariemont game. It wasn't as close as the score indicates. Summit was up 3-0 with about 10 minutes left to play. It should have been 4 or 5-0. The heat just killed Summit's high pressure game. Mariemont scored 2 late to make the last couple of minutes interesting.

soccoachcincy
08-23-07, 09:43 PM
I disagree. The heat left both teams exhausted. Mariemont played very inspired throughout the entire match and they just never gave up. Even with Herkamp going out to injury, they continued to try to spring a forward. That and Mitch White is a helluva player.

Madiera really wasn't that impressive. They were outpossessed (probably 65% to 35% in favor of IH) and they scored on basically their only good chance of the game. IH probably got off 10 crosses that no one finished, and they showed the weaknesses of the madiera defense.

Well, on that night Turpin was the better team. You could get 100 chances in a game and not score, Turpin took advantage of the chances they had. I heard Loveland was suppose to be solid, is this true?

I think the game was a little tighter than that, beckenbauer6. Madeira did get some counterattack opportunities, and the IH keeper made some pretty nice saves. True that IH created plenty of chances, though.

Soft goal: Throw-in by White about 10 yards in from corner kick area to edge of 6 yard; Widmer flicks the ball to the inside of the back post for the goal. It looked like he was just trying to center the throw-in but put it over the keeper's head and into side netting. One of those supposed-to-be-cross for a goal type of play.

Great win for mariemont

Colerain is a good team, no one has really noticed them but they've quietly gone 5-1. They're a team that plays with a lot of heart and just the slightest skill.

They scored about 20 minutes in on a sweet volley by number 5, I want to say Austin? and then Elder got a pk, which I believe, was a terrible call, so it was 1-1 at halftime. Then in the second half number 12 for Colerain made a hustle goal, running down the field, winning the ball and chipping it in the net. it was a good game.

yeah i guess it was a good game, colerain fouled elder everytime they touched the ball, but the ref was horrible so he didn't call anything. elders goalie was hurt and he didn't even give a card to the person who did it, i believe it was number 12, who also fouled 4 people in the first ten minutes of the game, and didn't receive a card

"The refs were horrible as usual."

This seems to be a constant statement with Finneytown games.
Have you ever thought that the refs looking bad stems from the attitudes and play of the Finneytown players and coaches?
There is one constant in their games and it's not the same refs doing every game.

Elder had maybe 25 corner kicks in the game and didn't put one away. They had about 70% of the possession. Colerain played hard, kept 5 men back, and fouled alot, but who wouldn't when the other team is quicker. Elder's second best scorer got hurt in the first 10 as well. Overall, Elder dominated the match. But it was one of those game where the other team worked their butts of and it payed off. It was a fun game to watch. However, the worst officiated game I've ever witnessed in high school...both ways.

Maybe a little over exaggerated...but i definitely agree the kid wasn't going for the ball at all and was one of the many OBVIOUS fouls that was of course not called. I just didn't feel the need to explain it in the summary of the game. It's funny how refs call kids for putting their hand on a kids shoulder when going up for a headball but can't see cleats-up tackles or tackles where one player clearly isn't going for the ball.

I would be willing to put money on the fact that there hasn't been the same ref at every home game that Finneytown has. There is a chance that one ref may have them 2-3 times in the same season, but RARELY are they all at the home field.

Even if there was a ref that has done multiple games, with one of them in the center and one on the line, that ref's job duties are different in those assignments and the way the game was called would have nothing to do with that one official.

And YES, I have seen Finnetown on several occasions, and YES I feel that I know them well enough to make those judgements.

SCD sorely missed Dwire and Mays. 0-0 at the half, both teams played well going into the second. The ref made a mistake and called a foul out of the box when it was clearly a PK. Madeira scored immediately afterwards and made it 3-0. That closed the door on the baby Knights. They looked young and small against CHCA and Madeira.

Great game. I would say that Finneytown dominated most of the game, though Indian Hill did have a lot of build-up. The score is what matters in the end though, and tie still puts Finneytown in great position to take the league.

good one? F-town did not dominate the game. and you should be talking about sportmanship when one of your players(#6) yells at IH when they had already left the field that they are "white trash." I don't doubt that a stupid comment like this was made, but EPLFAN brings up a very valid point about one particular player that was a total jerk the entire game. What an absolutely classic argument following a Finneytown-Indian Hill match!! But nonetheless, however ridiculous it may be, I think I'd have to agree with the Finneytown players on this one. IH is a team of classless fools!!!!!!! I don't doubt for one minute that one of IH's players was being a total jerk the ENTIRE game. I actually think that this Indian Hill squad is the classiest I have seen in quite some time. Very respectful and played a clean game. The exception was #7 as I stated before and for some reason it set you off.

Please clarify your "tactical" move you refer to because I am confused by your comment.....

Let's see....on the indirect free kick in the box...the referee even moved back the rest of the wall but #4 stood in front of the ball. the only thing that happened differently was the IH team had the brains to not try to physically push their opponents out of the way. All #7 did was slow the play of the game and abide by all the rules of the game of soccer. Which is why the Finneytown player got a yellow card and #7 didn't. If #7 had been doing something illegal he would have gotten carded.

acmilan13
09-27-07, 08:42 AM
I believe in these situations players should be carded for dissent or unsportsmanlike conduct if they purposefully stand in front of a ball to prevent a team from taking a quick restart (if they do not back off the ball and give the proper 10 yards).

I did not comment that #7 was a jerk for standing in front of the ball at the end of the match. It is a tactical move that is part of the game and anyone that has ever played and understood the game knows this. It was when the Finneytown players were attempting to play the ball that he continued to stand there once the referee asked him to move. The "pushing" is because of the urgency as time was running out and your player was indeed pushing back so don't act like it wasn't going both ways.

I was commenting that the referee should have stopped the game clock to caution the player and allow for the ball to be played rather than allowing time to expire.

By the way, are you not going to answer why you believe that FT is so disrespectful towards referees on this forum?

VarsitySoccerGuy
09-27-07, 08:58 AM
i know for fact that the referee did not tell him to move. The first time the ref said something to him he did move.

and the refs thing:
One of your players, teamates, said that Finneytown always gets bad refs. And than a referee himself told that player that it was not the referees that were bad that it was Finneytowns play. Also YAPCAP, who clearly attends and/or attended FT has made completely oblivious comments about referees in the CHL. You guys are putting a target on yourselves

Of course you "know for a fact" why wouldn't you? The ref asked him to move and he may not have been assertive but when he did ask he certainly was not in any hurry. That is when the FT players "helped" him back off the ball.

As far as the ref comment and your accusation of YAPCAP....
I could find a player from many other teams on here that has made comments that would put a "target" on their back. YAPCAP does not state anything that is untrue though (I only read through his recent posts). We do generally get the same referees. Those two linesmen in the FT/IH game have been involved in at least 6 or 7 of our games this season. That was the first time we had the center this season and hopefully the last because he was not that good (for both teams).

Sorry if we have high expectations of officiating, especially during a CHL rivalry match with the #1 & #2 teams in the city but your comment about us putting a target on our backs by commenting about them??? We are not putting the target there, others are placing it there because they are choosing to. People come on here all the time and comment about players/teams and give their opinions of who they think is good and not so good so I don't think that anyone has been out of line by commenting about the refs.

In the persistence of sociable repartee, I hereby deem interjection most fixedly necessary:

Zounds, sir! Art thou daft? What an absurdly nonsensical remark! My question arises as thus, wherefore on this good earth would such a troubled troupe of mediocre arbitrators habitually enthuse the ostensible Town of Finney? 'Sblood! I think it is a little ridiculous to be arguing about life worth and character over the internet. It is meaningless to try and win an argument against a somewhat anonymous opponent over the internet. The game is over, it can't be changed. Why don't we let our play speak for us while we are on the field, then we won't have to say anything after the game.

p.s. maybe Soccer2231 is implying this by his shakespearean-esq comments. which are hilarious btw, keep up the good work.

Fun game to watch. X came out rolling, scored two goals within the first 10 minutes or so. Kept the pressure on for another 15 minutes. It seemed to neutralize after that. Apparently, the great center midfielder elder has (Corbett #3) didn't show up until 10 minutes left in the first half. After he came the momentum swung Elder's way and they put one in a few minuted before the half.
Second half was all Elder. Was really impressed on how they turned the game around but completely disappointed they didn't finish any of their numerous chances. X took advantage late in the half to secure the win when they chipped the keep from about 20 out on a counter. Refs were OK, made some bad calls both ways. X did foul about 25 times in the second half and didn't receive a single card...thought that was odd. Unlucky for Elder, X held it together. Those first 15 minutes in the game can cost ya. It seemed as if Elder wasn't even up for this game at all until they found themselves 2-0 in a hurry.

How did D'Amico and Grajeda Play?

from my point of view D'Amico didn't really do anything against the Wayne defense. He did get injured in the first half by running into Wayne's keeper.
Grejeda had a great game although he did not score he contributed a lot to Wayne holding the ball up top

No i don't think that would of been the case. D'amico wasn't doing much the whole first half. Wayne's defense was on top of their game. Wayne was the better team that game.

if fairmont doesn't step there game up and play like they can then i think beavercreek will run away with it. But if Beavercreek comes out thinking there going to run all over them then Fairmont can surprise them. D'amico has to have a good game though

Indian Hill dominated about 70% of the game. Reading couldn't find any rythmn and had their counterattacks stopped by IH's speedy backline.

HA!! no way..Milford Dominated the whole first and second half..the only reason that turpin had a shot that could have gone in was when milfords keeper came out and they tried to lob it over there defense..in which milfords keeper got back and made a great save.. no way are they a sleeper..

Yeah Turpin could hold their own in DII, but now they are playing with the big boys in DI. They will not pose a threat in DI tournament play.
