State high school football magazines have been showing up on store shelves for the last month. I heard there are 16 magazines that cover a state's high school football.

In Texas we have Dave Campbell's Texas Football which is 368 pages dedicated to Big XII, other Texas university & colleges, junior college, the Cowboys & Texans, and high school football. It has been regarded at the bible of Texas Football each fall. It has about 175 pages dedicated to high school football and has a blurb on each public school in Texas and most of the private schools.

This is the 47th edition of the magazine and most baby boomers in Texas have grown up with the summer ritual of reading the magazine. While the magazine has dropped in quality since Mr. Campbell sold the magazine, it still is a good read.

Question which states have magazines that cover their states high school football and how good is it considered?

Florida has the Florida Football Mag.

Texas has that Mag that used to be owned by that campbell guy.

Both are really good. The one in texas has been around longer and is more locked in and known. Florida just rolled its out last year if i am correct. It is a really good mag. But can only get better and they both will.

Arkansas has a 300 page magazine called Hooten's. I have not looked at it but it covers 200 schools. I plan on browsing thru it as they give a page to page & half to each school.

Not a problem. I think Dave Campbell's was the first such magazine. Honestly, I would like to see them expand the magazine to about 125 pages. Right now they put one district (4A & 3A) and two districts (3A & below) to a page (6-10 teams). It would be nice if each team had an entire column. Right now the magazine cost $9.95. Up the cost to $14.95 for the extra pages.

I got the 2006 version of the Texas football magazine...not sure if the 2007 version is even out. But it was really comprehensive. I was shocked that there would be stuff on TAPPS, but there was...pleasant surprise that my little bro was mentioned in it as one of the best on his team as a soph.

I believe the 2007 edition has been out for about a month now. It does seem like there is a little bit less information every year, but it's still pretty good.

Just about anywhere in Texas that sells magazines. I got mine at Wal-Mart.
