Excellent job again. When do the for sale signs start popping up across Springfield?

Unbelievable! I hope the residents are ready, for whats going to happen to their Schools. If the Senior Citizens in the communinty are upset now, about the rif raf roaming the streets in Springfield, wait a couple Months, when the kids of the Township, have nothing to do, but hang out on the corners causing nothin but trouble. There will be absolutely nothing to do for these HS kids, without Sports, Band and any other extra curricular School activities taking place.
Good luck residents. Way to back your Schools and children.:Ohno:

This is truly an embarrasment to the Springfield community. I am embarrassed to say that I graduated from that school. Prepare for the entire community of Springfield to end up like Sawyerwood in a few short years. It's unbelieveable to me that the residents that voted no...again...don't realize the ramifications of their actions. Can they possibly be that stupid?

Way to go voters. You saved a couple hundred bucks a year to ruin your community, your schools and your youth.

Talk about tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime. Truly, truly pathetic.

So what happens now? Has the board said for sure that there will be cuts? Or has it been just more of the same idle threats? This has been going on for years in Springfield. Bussing has been cut, they've had pay to play, but will they have sports in 2007/2008?

My understanding is that all extracurricular activities will be cut. Sports, band, etc. It is not a question of whether they will be cut. They will be cut because the schools will not be able to financially support them. When the State moves in to take control you will be very dissapointed at what happens.

Just 3 years ago, Springfield Schools were in decent shape. They passed a Levy, I think it was in 2003, that should have taken them into the 2008 year, before another Levy needed to be put on a Ballot. Well, our great State of Ohio, made the decision to take money away from the Schools, which really affected Springfield. Sometime during 2005-6, the community was informed, that we needed money, or cuts were going to have to be made. Small cuts were made and a Levy was put on the Ballot. Springfield rejected it, and more cuts were made and pay to play was implemented. It was also made clear, that if the Levy failed in May of 2007, the State would come in and take over, and pretty much all extra-curricular activities would be cut.

The people of Springfield, were clearly informed by the Board, what could and will happen, if a Levy was not passed.

Time will tell, what all cuts will be made. I don't think, over the last 2 years, there have been idle threats. There have been major cuts made in the District. Some of these cuts included shutting down Kindergarden School, cutting Janitorial employees and responsibilities, no Busing within 2 mile radius of Grade Schools, no Busing at all at the HS, many, many Teachers Laid off, and Pay to Play, to name a few.

Hey Irish....haven't some of those things been in place for several years now? Like the bussing cuts and pay to play? I knew the kindergarten cuts were relatively new and didn't know that teachers had already been laid off. Sad man. It's been about 5 years since I've been involved at Springfield but I seem to remember those things then. The apathy in that community is unbelievable.

It's disgusting and pathetic. I personally know several people from Springfield that are planning on moving out of the district as soon as school is out.

Get ready for boarded up homes, an increase in crime, and a rush out of the community. Way to go Springfieldites. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse there.

Watch crime and foreclosures sky rocket. To think that the people of Springfield self imposed the implosion of their community. Because they didn't want to pay an extra couple hundred bucks per year for the support of their children. Way to go Springfield residents:clap:

Springfield residents have never been too bright when it comes to passing levies. I know two people myself that have kids in the school system and still refuse to vote yes for their children's future. Senior citizens I can kind of understand, but not younger people with kids in school. My kids are out, and I have always bled red & gray. It kills me to see this happen to Springfield. Do you think Massillon ever would have trouble passing a levy? No!!!! They support their kids and their schools. People ----- about teachers making too much $$$$, I say that is a bunch of crap! These teachers are in charge of our children for most of the time. During the school year they see the kids more than the parents a lot of times. Also, I get a cost of living raise every year. Why shouldn't our teachers? It was the same when I played for Springfield. My junior year baseball was cut and we had to pay to play football. Will the majority of the people in Springfield ever wise up? I say, probably not. I guess I will be able to say that I grew up in Springfield BEFORE IT WAS A GHETTO!
