i could maybe beleive cleveland state for oberschmidt...but for the other three no chance.

it's really to early for anyone to have strong interest from college coaches as they usually view you junior summer as your most important.

epure, did u make this so u could make claims about who is recruiting u? and oberschmidt is not going to play golf for ok st, florida, or the bruins

Oberschmidt isnt lookin at those schools i know that for a fact..he is lookin at butler university and ohio university right now...hes nowhere close to being good enough to play for those other ones..considering i golf with him im pretty sure i know

I will agree with this that if anyone, me, obershimit, burger have a bad summer you can count that any schools we have talked to will be out of the questions such as ohio or cleveland state.

out of curiosity what colleges are looking at epure? having been through the recruiting process myself i can say that letters dont mean anything, i mean calls from coach's, invites for campus visits the legit stuff

TheEture
05-10-07, 10:41 AM
I have talked to bowling green and the marshall coach on phone and south florida, ohio, and akron coach through email but due too my rigorous practice and work out schedule i have not had the time to visit yet but in the fall i will.:)

the real question about this summer is not if epure will win an ajga event, but how many he will win. if hes in the field hes got to be the hands down fave to win

TheEture

I dont play in any ajga events but i like where your coming from.

Why not?

TheEture
05-14-07, 01:53 PM
I dont because every pro i have had said i can get the same exposer in other tournaments for the same price as one ajga event. When it comes down to who looks at you it is how great you sell yourself to be and then if you can live up to it. i can live up to what i tell recruiters in an ajga tourney or something like the hamilton county, a score is a score dont matter what tourney. IMO

bombers24

im pretty sure the experience between ajga and the hamilton county isnt anywhere close. ive been in both and the ajga is a much harder atmosphere to play under. in the hamilton county you can screw around and you play only local courses against local players. in the ajga you have to play every shot knowing it may be the difference between getting into other tournament or not. and ive talked to college coaches as well and they like the ajga because they like to know how you do against national competition on nationally ranked courses, like the kind you'll face in college.

TheEture
05-14-07, 03:18 PM
thats not the point i was getting at i am talking to colleges coaches and yet i have never played an ajga event. And also what about like junior met so you are telling me the courses we play in that tournament arent college courses.

one ex. Xavier invite- Oasis Country Club (2 years ago)

Kevin Hall never played an ajga tournament and he won the big ten and went to the ohio state university. how do you think he got recognized? him self just like i said you have to do.

cincygolfer1234

comparing exposure from ajga to local tournaments is joke...college coaches definately want to see what you do against the best players your age. plus they can compare scores more readily as they know how the courses will be set up.

that being said by far the most important tournament for collegiate hopefulls to play in the is the US Junior, if you make the field you are guaranteed a spot somewhere D1.

also most coaches would actually prefer to see recruits play in tournaments like the Ohio Am, US Am Qualifier, US Open Qualifier. This is because they are competing against current college players. This gives coaches the best basis to compare the two.

I hate to say this about Hall as it comes across negatively in hindsight, as he obviously drastically developed once he got to Ohio State. As far as Kevin Hall that has a lot to Jim Brown and his obsession with his job stability and his perceived image. For those of you who were unaware Brown has been on the hot seat for a few years now. As we all know Kevin Hall is deaf and it looks good for Brown to offer a deaf black kid a scholarship when he likely didn't have a lot of other major offers. If you were unaware Kevin Hall wasn't even the best junior player in the city in high school. Brown has a history of not necessarily recruiting the best players and instead recruiting players that the people in Columbus read about in the papers to keep them happy. (obviously Bo and Tanner are good so this doesn't apply to them). But the other two in his recruiting class the year are a far cry from what the could have gotten. One is from Columbus and the other is a former players son.

are you seriously going to sit here and passively tell me that bo and tanner are and going to be better than kevin hall.

You let me know when they win a big ten title!:thumb:

by the way at the xu invitational at oasis those kids shoot 65's like it is nothing. oasis is not a college course.

kevin hall is one of those rare exceptions, and bo and tanner both played in the ajga, as did evan wood and they are all going to osu. i think if you look it up about 98% of college players have played in the ajga.

personally i have no idea why golf coaches are talking to you, have you even played well locally in the hamilton county?

cincygolfer1234
05-15-07, 07:34 PM
i'm not saying that tanner or bo will be better than kevin (although i think bo probably will be very very good). as bombers24 said oasis is not a college course, unless you justin consitantly shoot 69 from the back there in october.

there is no doubt that you don't have to play ajga to play in college, but to say that you will get just as much exposure by playing in the county and city tournaments is retarted.

that being said i do think that the ajga is a giant scam that only favors the rich kids who have been traveling around the country since they were 12. it is riduculous how many good players struggle to get into tournaments because they haven't built up exemptions throughout the years.

yeah ajga is stupid but good exposure. i was never able to get into one due to conflict and not having the reputation but im still playing in college. cincygolfer is right. AJGA isnt a necessity but it sure helps.

Don't get too ahead of yourself. Bredan Decenso made it two years ago and i'm almost positive he did not get any D1 recruits

here it is: www.njgs.com you will be able to look up national but unless you have a membership you cant get the state ones.

i had the privilege of playing with Tyler at our district tournament. he didn't start off well at all but about the 7th hole he really started to turn it on. this kid has a tremendous golf game and also has the poise and clutch ability that is needed at the college level. i look for him to go to solid D1 school

TheEture
02-07-08, 10:28 PM
I cant really say anything because i have not played with him but it is alot harder than you think to go play D I it not like you just shoot 75 all the time you will go to Georgia. There are kids way better than the best kids in Ohio, I would know i played with very very good golfers in the Optimist. So maybe small D I or D II but an SEC team i just dont see it. Maybe im wrong i dont know?

devils18

i agree that there are kids way better then the best in ohio but if he continues to improve i think he has a pretty good shot to go pretty much wherever he wants

half the kids that play ajga think they are so much better just because of that sticker/ bag tags you have. If you are a good golfer you will get noticed, plus golf you have to do half the recruiting yourself. you dont have to play in any ajga events there are plenty of other very competitve tournaments that do not coast half as much as the ajga. GO ahead and spend all the money on ajga tournys and by the time youu ever get a scholarship you will have spent more then they are going to offer.
