Porkopolis, that's the same logic Steelers fans use for why their teams sucked for 40 years before even making a playoff game.

Most would agree that had there been state playoffs prior to the OHSAA instituting them, that Massillon would've won several of them. Out of 22 'media poll' championships, you'd have to figure they'd have won several just by the odds alone, let alone the fact they were a very good team.

Some people place too much emphasis on the media polls, some place too little. It's a good way of seeing who everyone thought was the best for that year based on what took place in the regular season.

Take it with a grain of salt, but don't discredit any team's accomplishment prior to the OHSAA starting the playoffs.

SLC has the last 3 mythical national championships (2004, 2005, 2006) and a pretty good shot at 2007. We'll see.
