Idk why that is weak, the dog pound is easily the best student section in the gmc althought they may not be on the level of a couple of gcl schools. I know hamilton has played X two times in the last two years, and X hasn't had a student section either time. One game was in the tournament too.

And bluefan07, no offense but the casual/bandwagon fan at X does not go to games against mediocre Hamilton teams. ---- they don't show up to any games against GMC teams usually unless we're playing them deep in the playoffs (eg LW last year). Usually those students don't show up until the regionals start. If X and Hamilton were to play again this year in the playoffs I would only expect the real fans to show up, which translates into a not very big ss. A third round playoff matchup of Hamilton and X is a much bigger game to Hamilton students then it is at X.

I was there when they hoisted the state championship trophey last year. Tennis definitely isn't exactly the highest attened high school sport though.

EXACTLY... the game has to have so much meaning. All of the basketball pics that are impressive (which they are def impressive) are playoff games

Playoff games are the only games where there is room for that many students to show up. While all the GCL gyms are nice (except Lasalles) they aren't big enough where 200+ students can show up. It's not like football where 800-1,000 students all show up and are all guarenteed a seat. Even at state last year students got turned away because the reserved section at the Schott wasn't big enough.

You can expect bus loads of Mason students for Loveland and if Mason wins, probably for the X game (although Kings is pretty well-coached).

That is probably because the majority of the population at X plays a sport or is a fan of sports. At public schools you have students who hate their school, students who don't fit in with the students who go to the games and they have girls. It is hard to get a lot of girls to stand for 2 hours at a basketball game on a Friday night. Bottom line is that private schools are more a of a family-like environment, that is why it is feasible to get that kind of turnout.

Nobody's student section will ever compare to St. Xavier's student section. I've been to numerous football and basketball games at the state finals and national competition levels, and they are by far the best.

Exactly, it's about how many you get to every game! everyone knows that at a state game, numbers count for nothing, to quote '300'. How loud you are is the deciding factor.

Last year in the state tournament for basketball, Moeller had 5 students in their student section against Northwest @ Cintas. we were atleast 5 times louder than Northwest who was atleast 5 times as big as our SS. It didn't hurt that we beat them by like 40, but it helped!

This is from a Coldwater vs. St. Henry boys basketball game. Schools are about 5 miles apart and each others biggest rival. Coldwater was having a black out while St. Henry had a white out. Coldwater won the game in 3 OT's.

I thought the Elder SS was excellent size wise up in Canton. In fact, I think it was about the same size as in '02 or '03. I sincerly doubt St. Is would have brought half that amount if the game was played in Dayton or even Columbus. As to not cheering, Elder really did not have a lot to cheer about during the game. However, in the pregame Elder's SS was much louder and animated. St. Is has 400+ more students than Elder,let girls in their SS, and only had to travel about an hour, so ofcourse their SS had a larger size. However, this is all irrelevant since Is won the game, which is what really matters.

New Season with a winning record with bigger numbers in the seats, looking forward to seeing the match up with some of these solid SS in the post season possibly

If this is the game with OJ Mayo it's more like 1/3 or 1/4 of the SS. There were that many people on the other side of the baseline and then a bunch of students stuck up in the bleachers because there was no more room down on the floor. And on top of that the game was oversold so they had to turn people away at the door.
