Anyone know how the Spartan Freshman are doing this year? They were pretty tough last year in eigth grade.

I believe the Freshman team has only lost one game.

The freshman team has usually been a bright spot for Springfield over the years. I know, the current Junior and Senior class won the NBC Conference in their respective years. Seems they just can't continue the success after that.

That speaks volumes of the varsity coaching situation:dang:

I know that even last years team was very tough all year, yet doesn't seem to be able to contribute at all this year on the varsity. Your Freshman coach must be an excellent coach, because that is arguably the toughest year to coach, having to transform them from middle school "recreational" football into "High School Fotballers" in only a few weeks

I have heard that their record this year so far is 6/1, so the saga must be continuing.

Sounds to me like many of these Freshman could/should be getting some varsity time. How much worse could they do considering the varsity team is
0-7?

I say yank these upperclassman that are dogging it and/or don't care, and replace them with some hungry underclassman. What's the worst that could happen? Their already getting pummeled by 40 or 50 points per game.

Get rid of the dead wood, and let the future get some playing time.

Yeah did you notice that absolutely none of the upperclassmen that were any good played last year??? Just a question?

Not sure what you mean? Everybody, and I mean everybody last year, had a chance to gain a starting role. They even brought some Freshman up for the last 3 games. They didn't get much time, but they did play a little. There were many things that caused them to go 0-10:
-Lack of talent
-Lack of depth(23 varsity kids)
-Kids quitting
-Discipline issues
-Pride and Toughness
-Poor coaching
-Poor, to no, game planning
-Injuries

i was referencing to the fact that he said that the freshman should come up and replace the varsity kids. There's a reason why there wasn't much talent last year. Many of the kids quit (Mazur) and there wasn't much left for the seniors to work with. The senior class had a lot of drop outs and their QB who's decent didn't have any targets minus a WR with no hands. So maybe if a lot of the kids return then they won't be bad. We'll have to see...
