View Full Version : Football at Lake Center
I think that if Lake Center got a Football team started they would be very good very quickly.Lowest division because of student numbers. If we have a well known figure in the football world come in and coach.
Be it an exCollege or Pro player.Playing as an independent school,we could play teams like Massillon,McKinley,Iggy and the list goes on.What do you think?
Bringing in Football also makes the entire sports programs at Lake Center stronger. There are way too many boys transfering out to play Football elsewhere.

I think I know of a guy who would be willing to take over as head coach too. Pretty extensive experience too...in the NFL....college.....NEO high school power.... ;)

As much as one would like to think that LCCS could be good, It will take a while for a team of that size to come together.
Massilon? McKinley? Iggy? ummmmmmm..That would probably not look pretty in the score column, I could see if they do get a team, Maybe, Maybe, a Few Scrimmages with Uniontown Lake.

ummm....yeah.... there's no way LCC would ever be playing D1 powers like Massillon or McKinley. They would have to start out playing some weak sister D6 schools to build the program the way CVCA did winning the old East Suburban Conference their first two years out the gate and then move on to better schools. I could see them after a few years with a program having rivalries with schools like Mogadore, Manchester, CVCA, Tuslaw, Coventry, etc. Unless the school grows drastically a series with Lake would be out of the question.

It's a shame they didn't start a football program when the school was still just a junior high, as they've had quite a few kids go through there that have gone on to be pretty good at Lake. Also, it would've been fun to see the athletic 6'7 260 lb Thomas Lawver in a football uniform. He would be the biggest and probably the best player at a school like Manchester, and if I'm not mistaken he actually lives in Manchester school district.

If he lives in the Manchester area why dosent he play for manchester especially with that size and when lake center dosnt have a football team that is a waste of talent and remeber this is football one offensive lineman isnt going to make a great team that can match up to a team with a bunch of 5' 9'' dudes all in the 250 lbs range not to mention a running back like kreakbaum. Its plain and simple if lake center would get a football team they would struggle agaisnt teams in the pac.

Why would anybody go to Lake Center to play football?
If a player is a good player and he is looking for a school to enroll in he would go to a DI school not a DIV school

No one goes to small PUBLIC schools for football, but small private schools are more than capable of attracting high quality athletes. Many great athletes come from religious families and choose such schools for their high quality religious education. Just look at schools like St.-V, Cardinal Mooney, Ursuline, Hoban, etc. All have had numerous athletes go on to play Division 1 football in college, moreso than the average Division 1 public school. Heck CVCA, who has had a football program all of ten years, has had 3 players sign D1, with another one likely in '09 with John Pettigrew. It would be very easy for a school like Lake Center located in a talent rich as well as very religous area to build a top notch football program very quickly.

No, why would someone who wants to go to a small private school choose to go to LCC when they could go to Hoban, etc..

Because they're not Catholic, as a majority of people in the Stark County area are not. With Lake Center currently enrolling classes of 80 in junior high, if a when it decides to start a football program, it is going to be a goldmine.

Yeah your telling me a 5star athlete is going to give a rats --- what the affilation of a school is when he's looking to get a scholarship.

And plus Tallmadge where I am from is currently enrolling classes of 200+ and we are not even DI so how could you guys play DI schools and enroll classes of 50?

Believe it or not many 5 star athletes do care about something more than just athletics, and all know that if you have the talent, D1 colleges will find you, regardless of school size. As I previously mentioned, CVCA, a small Christian school, has only had football for ten years and already attracted 3 athletes who earned D1 scholarships, with a fourth next year. Also, I never said Lake Center would compete with DI schools. Lake Center could be a small school power house, and a mini-factory for top notch talent in the area if they play their cards right. Also, with the recent school expansion class size will likely grow to 100+ in the next 4-5 years.

Sorry thought you were the one at the beginning talking about playing St. Iggy, Massilon, etc..
However, I colleges will not find you if you play at a small school.
This will happens because college scouts look players at small schools playing inferior talent.
PS Who were the kids from CVCA who got DI scholarships?
Also please don't think I am an unGodly fool. I before going to Tallmadge went to a small Christian school until 7th grade.
PS Before going to Tallmadge my family was thinking about sending me to LCC

No problem about the misunderstanding.
As for the CVCA kids, that I know of....
Blake Butler- signed with Memphis in '02, may be a late round draft pick this year
Brandon Butler- signed with Akron in '03
Fonzie Culver- signed with 1-AA Fordham in '05
and John Pettigrew, who will be a junior at CVCA next year, is already getting a lot of interest from D1 programs
And also, aren't you a Tallmadge poster?? Tallmadge is a small school at D4, like CVCA, and where Lake Center with the school expansion will probably eventually be.... and you guys have had a number of guys sign with D1 schools haven't you?
And I don't think you're ungodly at all haha, it's fine to disagree about how strong a sports program can be, even it is a Christian school!

Actually no we have not in football at least.
The only player I know of that signed a DI scholarship is our running back from two years ago Jamel Miller. Currently at Miami (OH)

I'm sorry, you're right, Tallmadge is D2, I just looked it up. For some reason I thought Tallmadge was smaller than that. I also looked up CVCA, who for football, is D4, D3 for basketball.

Do most of your students come from the Lake area?

A good chunk of our student body is drawn from Hartville/Uniontown but we also draw from south Akron, Canton, Mogadore, Kent, etc. That's the beauty of being one of only two large Christian schools in NEO, you have the potential to draw from all over.

If you guys were to try a football team talk to heritage christian and see if they could start a football team. Have a rivalry similar to the Stark Holy War between CCC and STA
