Could be the last chance for Springfield to get a victory this year. I don't see them beating any of the remaining teams on their schedule. Hopefully, the kids that are left, can suck it up and play for pride this Friday night.
For you Seniors, this will put you half way through your last years of High School Football. Enjoy the games while you still can. Play your heart out and leave nothing on the table.
I saw this in the paper. Was this another 2nd half let down by the Spartans?

I just don't see how this team can beat Norton, or anyone else for that matter. After the promising year last year, it appears like another 0-10 season. That is sad. Something must be done before this school has no football.

Another embarrassing loss for the Spartans. Springfield had the lead at half, 7-0, but could not finish, losing 21-14. Springfield should have crushed Norton, but once again poor game plan, poor play calling and poor execution on the players part, cost them the game. I have no idea what the coach had in mind this game, nor did anybody else in the stands. Springfield was losing 21-7 at one point, and yet only passed 7 times all night. I was told, 6 of the 7 pass attempts were the in-famous "all go" routes. QB was passing well, going 4-7 for 95 yards. Any sort of short(er) route passing plays, would have enabled Springfield to move the ball better, but....
Its time for a change, and I don't mean the players.

Well here is my 2 cents worth. Springfield was bigger, stronger, faster and definately had more talent... but NO heart!!!! Looking at the 2 sidelines full of players, when Norton was on defense, and it was 3rd, or 4th and short, they were cheering, slapping their pads, chanting or should I just say they were into the game. Springfields sideline had heads hanging low. Their offense is totally predictable, no creativity at all. Do they not have a 7-12 yard pass play in the middle of the field? One more thing I noticed that totally ticked me off. I watched the game at field level standing by the fence. Springfield's players enter the stadium through the fence by the band concession stand. And well the coaches enter the stadium by the ticket booth... ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Have you ever seen a coaching staff not enter the field with the team? They didn't even meet up and enter the field at the same time. Way to go Mazur and the rest of the staff!! Hopefully this pitifull second season will show whoever hired this staff that maybe you should hire someone with at least some head coaching experience.
If what I hear is true, the school is having serious levy problems, had to let some teachers go last year, and more this year if the levy fails again (November I think?).
Even if they want to bring someone in, they can't. So who in the district can do it? And if it is as bad as everyone says, who would want to???

Mr rage,
your are absolutely correct. No creativity at all. Pitch right - Pitch left - All go route pass(or sack) - Punt. I never see any counters. I've been saying this all year, he does not use the short passes. I'm glad other people are beginning to see the same thing. I was told, the last 4 plays Springfield ran Friday night, were the "all go route" play. Its basically a hail mary pass, 4 times in a row. They had plenty of time at the end of the game, to drive the ball downfield and get into better field position. Drag routes, 10 Yard outs and screens could have all been used to work the ball down the field. Instead, he had the QB drop back and launch 40 yarders, the last 4 plays. Once again, out of the 7 passes the QB attempted, 5 were all go routes.
I rarely agree with changing Head Coaches in the middle of a season, but at this point, it could only help the Team. Maybe then, some of the players that quit, would return and moral would increase among team members.
As for next year, it will be difficult to find a Coach who would come into this situation(27 kids on Varsity, 4 wins in the last 5 years, pay to play). My guess is, it will be another Alumnist. In my opinion, they need to get away from the Alumni, coaching this team, assistants included. They need a new look, with fresh ideas and someone that does not have any past connection with the School.

A name that I heard surface was Jim France from Manchester. I heard he was thinking of hanging it up in Panther town, and might be on the Take for a run with the Spartans.

Wow...I didn't hear that, but he definately has Springfield ties!

Absolutely no way this happens.
It would be nice for Spartans though.

Just saw a Manchester supporter and he said he had heard some rumbling of France leaving after this year, but that it is not true. He has 2 years left on his agreement with Manchester schools, but he already is retired, so it is not IMPOSSIBLE, bit I don't know why a guy would want to start all over at his age.
