I think we will see a different Springfield team this week. They are done with all the suspensions(for the time being) and need to get down to business for this weeks game. I like the play calling a little bit more against Green, but playing the entire first qtr without 6 starters, was not what they needed. By the time the starters entered the game, it was already 21-0. Looking ahead to Friday, if the coach stays on the same game plan, continues to roll the QB out, and mix in some of those nice Wing T trap plays, I think they can win this game. Dropped passes continue to plague this offense. They are done with 2 of their toughest games and now can begin focusing on their League games. A win a gainst Minerva would be a huge confidence boost.
Issues-Springfield had many injuries against Green. Lets hope none of them are too serious, to keep them out of this weeks lineup.

SHS lost big to a not very good Minerva team. They were leading early.

Final?
So they need to go 4-3 from here out to get their 4 wins? Ruh-roh.

After evaluating this team for the first 3 games, I now believe, they will be lucky to win 2 games this year. There is no way, Minerva should have beat them that bad. They(Springfield) are a horrible team. I'm sorry, I've tried to be patient, but at this point, nobody on that team is playing to their potential. I see no signs of toughness, heart or pride out on that field. Injuries continue to mount up, and lack of depth and conditioning are very obvious.
I was wrong. No way they win 4, let alone 5. I apologize to all the Springfield supporters, for getting their hopes up. Sorry, This team has gotten worse, since week one.
I will still support the team in way I can, but I have to be realalistic about their chances.

Thats what I said after week 1. It just took you a couple more games to see it. Thats ok...you gave them the benefit of the doubt. I have been hearing this noise for YEARS, but for some reason, this year I fell into the trap.
It appears to me that many of the problems may be coaching? I mean the coaches can't run the plays, but are they using the personal that they have to get the most out of everyone? Are they putting the ball in the playmakers hands? Are they running the correct plays for the situation at hand? These questions need answers.
The deeper this team gets into losing, the tougher that 1st win will be to get. Some heads need to roll, and if players aren't getting the job done, then put someone else in to try. What do you have to lose, right?
Players sometimes get lazy because they think they are "owed" a starting spot because they are a senior, or are athletic. If they are not giving 150% sit their azzez down and put some hungry sophmore in there. I am tired of watching Springfield suck at football. The talent can't be THAT bad, so it must be something else!!
The talent is average (4-6 wins with an average to good coaching staff). But it appears to be better than at any time in the last 5 years.
My niece said one of her teachers told her class that they have had 3 consecutive winning seasons at the Freshman level.
Is that true??? Can anyone confirm that?
If so, WHAT is going on there?

The current Juniors and Seniors, both won the NBC Championships at the Freshman level(not sure about the Sophmore class). Ever since they have been under this new head coach, they have gone downhill. Now, I can't blame all this on the coach, because there have been some kids, who just quit playing, or couldn't keep their grades up, to play on the team. Some of the blame has to go on the kids and parents, but your correct, there is some talent on the Varsity team. Its a shame for these kids, becasue they are one of the better teams to come through in a while, but just don't have good coaching experience to help them have winning seasons.
