My vote goes for Carla Brookbank. Unbelievable!

I would have to agree on Carla.
Some other names you here a lot about, around Springfield:

Bo James
Anthony Gary

I believe that Chip Woods should also be mentioned. He was a 4-year letterman in 3 sports (football, basketball, & baseball). My dad was the basketball coach there for 5 years, beginning with Chip's freshman year. He scored over 1,000 points in his career.

In the past 25 years I would say that on the boy's side of you'd have to consider Anthony Gary if individual accomplishments are considered for wrestling and football - also in this category would be Bo James. Chip Woods should be considered though because he was an All-League Player in 3 seasons - football, basketball and baseball.

Best girl's athlete, without a doubt, is BECKY VOSSBERG. State honors in volleyball, basketball, track for three years, then softball her senior year (pitched them to the Regionals) - phenomenal athlete and a great student. Missy Jones was also another great 3 sport athlete. Carla Brookbank should definitely be mentioned, but don't forget Alana Barker - helped pitch the Lady Spartans to and unprecedented four straight State Titles in softball.

Forced to choose one - BECKY VOSSBERG!

I agree that Carla was very good, but my vote would have to go to Kevin "Meatball" Metzger. Dude had it all man, not to mention he can sing and dance.

High School: Put an exclamation point on an outstanding two-sport athletic career by pinning his opponent in 1:37 to capture the 189-pound national high school championship… Placed first in state his junior and senior seasons…State runner-up as a sophomore…Also starred on the gridiron where as an all-state halfback and rewrote the Springfield record book for points (372), all-purpose yards (5,278), rushing yards (3,939) and touchdowns (58)…Garnered seven separate Player of the Year awards including honors from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Akron Beacon-Journal and the Dapper Dan Club…His football jersey number, 26, was retired in 1995

Can anyone top that?

Great post, one thing you forgot is that I don't think he even started wrestling until his sophmore year. He was definatly like a man playing among boys, and he was fun to watch on the football field. Sorry Kev, I change my vote.
