Windhorst's article on NBA & gambling

Interesting that he didn't mention Dan Gilbert like he wont be feeding Lebron millions in gambling endorsement money via that casino a stone's throw from the Cavs arena........................

As i stated earlier legislators will screw this up. 34% takeout and a 10 mill application fee sure sounds appealing. pennsylvania legislators are stupid AF

There are already Ohio legislatures that want to pounce on this as a way to grab action from neighboring states. There is also a lot of talk about whether Ohio will require the bets be placed at an established casino/race track or will they allow mobile apps. Finally it was pointed out that if mobile action is allowed everyone at a tOSU game could get paid because of the game except for the players. Incredible.

I like the states rights here.

There is no real reason that any league should expect one dime from any of this gambling, but they'll all want a taste. If you're a state like WV or RI with no expectations of ever having a pro team, you tell them to pizz off when they try to get involved.

If I'm doing a mobile app, I set up in one of those states.

I think some states will try the brick and mortar approach at first. Not sure if that is smart....

Let the lobbying begin.

Sports books with all the other gamblers might be fun.

Mobile apps will be the money-makers. Lots of prop bets in real time to bleed the inveterates dry.

I believe there needs to be a Federal Gaming Board or governing body, doing it State by State will only lead to chaos. Look at boxing and college sports with no governing body. Europe & the Premier league have incorporated gambling, I’m sure the US will as well. As for the games being fixed, there is always a concern for that but there are a lot of eyes looking at abnormalities in game results and bets placed.
