Will the 2021 season be back to the old norm?

2021 will be 2020 on steroids but with trash politicians both Republican (DeWine) and Democrat (Biden/Harris/House of Rep) taking more and more Rights away from us everyday people under the disguised premise of safety and well-meaning. Meanwhile a big swath of people will just continue to just not question anything and swallow the sacchrin lies we are fed by these dishonest entities on a daily basis. Still wondering what it is that any democrat candidate would have done to "handle" Covid better? Perhaps receive better "media coverage"?

HS Football in 2021? Good luck.

No reason H.S. football should not be back to a normal next season unless a new " Chinese virus " pops up onto the scene. As for the bat virus, vaccines will be given to the elderly and health workers before the end of this year. Their is such a thing as herd immunity and with the vaccine and the no. of people who already had the virus, Covid will be history as far as being a problem well before summer. Plus their is no Presidential election next year to politicize the virus.

Playing two OOC games getting ready for league play and then playing stand filling MAC games is exciting. Don't want to sacrifice that.
Exactly. OOC games are your harbin cash cows and if your league is good, and the MAC isn't to shabby, them that second OOC is gold.
If your a league who sort of struggle s or they just want to take the easy way out of scheduling then yeah, stay with one OOC.

The two years the MAC had just one OOC saw limitoed playoff teams with one going 8_2 and winning their OOC and only losing to two league teams who won titles.

Thankfully the MAC adapted....

Wish the WBL would. Unfortunately we have a couple of lazy ADs who think that because they struggled to fill week 1, the entire league would struggle to fill week 2. ??

If the Trump Vaccine works, and this point it looks pretty favorably, and if the vast majority of the population take it, the 2021 season should get pretty much back to normal.

Thank God for Donald Trump , he saved us . Any other Prez ? It takes 4-5 years or longer as Trump said himself. Thanks Don, if not for you the WORLD's medical community and scientists wouldn't have even gotten off their $ and it would have bene many years before we could breathe easier. The Trump vaccine will go down in history as the greatest achievement in Presidential history . The WORLD owes a debt of gratitude to this man .

You would think after the WBL having some success against schools outside of its league they would be open to this idea.

I'd love more WBL-SBC and WBL-NLL matchups. SBC cause it would be good football. NLL cause they aren't that great.

I say all this as a fan of a school that can't compete against much of anyone right now, but hey. We'd still finish 6th in the NLL.

NONE of that matters (e.g.- Harbin points) when everyone gets in the playoffs— no danger of getting left out— so this silly notion of “harbin cash cows” becomes irrelevant.

Agreed with 12 teams getting into the play offs from each region no reason for WBL or even the MAC not to play everyone in their league.

One of several reasons I voted for Trump. ?

Good thought, what about entering Ft. Loramie into MAC and all 10 games would be filled. Or would teams still a little OOC to make top 12.

Considering Coldwater plays D4 schools and above in non-Conference, we would have our harbin totals destroyed if we did this. It's not broke. It doesn't need fixed.
Again— you don’t need to worry about your “harbin totals”, if every school in the state is automatically entered in the playoffs... not sure why people can’t get that.

Im expecting that come Summer, the vaccines will be somewhat readily available. I think that once we get to that point, regardless of what happens with the pandemic, I dont think the politics from that time forward will really support much of a deviation from the norm. Even if there are still lots of cases, many people will say "hey, theres a vaccine, there is no need to shut things down".

..and that happened how many times?

Once that I recall.

If everyone makes the playoff, good teams sacrafice good quality games with byes and wasted weak early round games.

It could (and SHOULD) happen EVERY year— but people who resist change kept insisting that it wasn’t possible to have all the Ohio HS teams in the playoffs— that has been proven wrong now-- and (hopefully) the OHSAA does what it does in EVERY other Ohio HS sport— puts all teams in the playoffs every year from now on.

There’s always some silly reason to try to stop what makes eminent sense— no matter how it‘s structured, the people who don’t like or want change will have some reason why they don’t want it— the one earlier was “I like having those two (or three) out of league games, before we start our league schedule, to build Harbin points for the playoffs”— now, you’re saying “We’d have games against bad teams”— well, that happens regardless. Just stop with the obfuscation— if you don’t want and byes, you can ALWAYS agree to be seeded lower— and there are bad games against overmatched teams, whether the playoffs include 8 per region, 12 per region, or everybody in a region.
If you want to win the state title, you don’t care at all about the stuff you mentioned above— it’s just delays before getting to the serious games— use them to prepare— Ohio State doesn’t quibble about (in fact seeks out) games against Youngstown State or Nobody StateU early in the season— and it doesn’t stop Ohio State from being ready for the tough games at the end.

The bottom line is that EVERY other Ohio HS sport has ALL teams in the playoffs— and mismatches happen in all sports— they even happen in the state Division I football championship game— there is NO reason that football needs to be (or SHOULD be) different from the other sports.

Plus you look at the D3,D4,D6 championship games it was clear that those were the two best teams in Ohio playing each other.

The only way to better assure the 'best' two teams meet in the finals is to restructure/reseed the teams after week 11 or 12.
Not uncommon for the the second best team to get cannibalized along the way. That happens in all sports many years though

Conditions might be back to normal but fear will still keep many away I also think that your less enthusiastic fans that basically just go out of habit will not come back.

Lets see , Wakefield will still think he is the king of HS football as he beats up on poor Central , Firestone, etc and then complains when he gets rolled again in the playoffs. Hoover will still try to stick us in the girls soccer locker room if they host a game. McKinley will be looking for another HC that can relate to their kids instead of bringing in a real Bulldog from the past. Jackson, well enough said ( It is Christmas time ! ) The usual trolls will still be stealing threads, Hoban will come up w/ a new team of senior students who are craving the religious aspect of the school, Yep 2021 will be the same as the past years ! Seriously I do hope and pray that everyone on here stays safe and well !! Happy Holidays to all ! The Ref is out !

I really don't believe many who would normally go to a HS game will be afraid to go next year.

How many other sports play just one game per week. A waisted baseball, basketball game is not as big of deal! Every team making the playoff is producing byes and weak early round games. These boys lift weights all year, they deserve to play. A running clock just takes playing time away from good teams. The losing team is missing playing time also.

Lacrosse generally plays only one game per week-- and every team is entered in the state playoffs... regardless, this is a weak reason to keep teams out of the playoffs-- as noted, Ohio State has only 12 games in a normal season-- they still schedule one or two games a year that they fully expect will NOT remain competitive past halftime... if you don't like the running clock as the reason, then agree (I'm sure both teams could unilaterally do that) to not use it, regardless of score... again, there is ALWAYS some silly arse reason that someone will come up with, to avoid dealing with an eminently sensible change. We HAVE the proof that a playoff with EVERY team in it can be done, and IS manageable in Ohio-- let's move on to implementing it from here on out.
