IIRC The Head Wrestling coach was also the Head Football coach, and they terminated him as the football coach to hire another guy, so I imagine he didn't/wasn't want/going to stick around with an AD who does stuff like that to you.

Taking team points off a scoreboard maybe be up there with one of the dumber rules we have in our sport. Is there any other sport in the world where an official/referee can literally decide to take points away from a team?

No, but other sports penalties give an advantage to the other team (Yards in football, Free throws in BB, PKs/ Cards in soccer, Penalty Box in Hockey etc.), so whats a proposed advantage you would give the opposition?

Tie one arm behind his wrestlers back for one period.
Penalties can take points off the board. Those sports can't go negative. This just isn't a good comparison. With individual match scores and then the team scores in wrestling, are any other sports even similar?

I remember when Bo Nickal pinned Myles Martin in the NCAA finals to win his team the team title and he tossed his head gear to his coaches before shaking hands and they took a team point away from Penn State lol. So, so, dumb…again.. we have some dumb rules. Well intentioned maybe.. but not very thought out.
