Good list for Solon. I was working on the Comets but had difficulty with the upper weights. You did as well as there wasn't a 220 on your first or 2nd teams. I'd consider Nate Hoff at Hvy, who was 5th in the State.
You could probably put Dennis Meggyesy at 220. Back in 1963 upper weight classes went 165, 175, HVY. In 1962 he was 3rd at 165 so I'm assuming he could make 220.

I fixed it and added 220 for both 1st and 2nd team.

Not my school but I was intrigued by what a lineup would look like so here’s my Saint Paris Graham lineup:

106- Jim Jordan 4 time SC
113 - Jeff Jordan 4 time SC
120 - Kyle Ott 3 time SC(last one at SPG)
126 - Dustin Schlatter 4 time SC(1st 2 at SPG)
132 - Mitch Moore 4 time SC
138 - David Taylor 4 time SC
145 - Micah Jordan 4 time SC
152 - CP Schlatter 4 time SC(last 2 at SPG)
160 - Bo Jordan 4 time SC
171 - Alex Marinelli 4 time SC
182 - Dan Bair SC
195 - Max Thomusseit 2 time SC
215 - Joe Dennis SC(4th, 2nd, 5th, 1st) won senior nats
285 - Adam Walls (6th, 4th, 2nd, 3rd in D1 at beavercreek)

Notable backups
3 time SC’s - Ty Morgan, Cameron Doggett, Ben Jordan, Isaac Jordan, Felipe Martinez, Ryan Taylor, Kyle Lawson, Rocky Jordan
2 time SC’s - Josh Wooten, Dave Erwin, Aaron Hart, Zach Neibert, Nick Brascetta, Eli Seipel, Brent Moore
9 four time SCs Winn’s IMO albeit Div 2. It’s still lines up with Ed’s IMO. Very impressive.

Another notable back up, Jason Marshal at 215 behind Joey D.

No Dave Zahoranski?

No Dave Zahoranski?

That’s a great thought. He would definitely be on the list if you are looking foremost at college wrestling credentials
Dave Zahoransky placed 4th at 138. Intheknow had state champs Vinny Digiovanni and Jim Barto at 138. Hard to take either of them off.

No Dave Zahoranski?
If we are factoring the entire career into this, yes...Dave Zahoransky would be in the mix. But from a High School career perspective only, Dave was a 1x state qualifier and placer (4th). he would probably be 3rd team behind Vinny D and Barto.

Centerville...
106- Jim Kordik (5th state)
113- Tim Carnahan (4th state)
120- Shawn Fayette ( 1st state w Miamisburg after transferring)
126- Kijana Monroe ( 4th state)
132- Billy Jamison ( 3rd state)
138- Tim Maahs (3rd state @ 145)
145- John Beljan ( 2nd state @ 138)
152- Brent Davis ( 1st state @ 145)
160- Jim Pearson ( 1st state @ 155)
170- Dave Brown ( 1st state)
182- John Schultz ( 1st state @ 175)
195- Nick Miller ( 1st state @ 189)
220- Kyle Rose (1st state @ HWT.
HWT- Lance Wagner (3rd state?)

Would love to see the all-time Centerville team against the all-time Fairfield team...:)
What about some of the new kids from centerville had a pretty good team this season

Oh I left plenty of deserving kids off, believe me. Jerry Fickes, for ex., a 2-time state placer (6th,2nd). Just wasn't as dominant as a Dave Brown at his weight... No question Ryan, Taylor, Acuna, or others might eventually make the all-time team. Bottom line though, is the ones in front of them have already proven themselves at the state level, while unfairly, the current kids haven't yet had the chance too.

Steve Shivak was third in the state for Parma at 175-pounds in 1981.

Darth, I am taking nothing away from Benton and Bailey at 285 but Charles Gayles was by far the better 285!!! He won a state title when SW Ohio was not much as far as the state competition went. He was obviously the 1st State Champ from the SW but he was the Best of the Best at that weight by far. He, as far as my opinion goes belongs all by himself!! Just my thoughts, not dissing you at all.

Good call.

West Chester Lakota (before East and West)
Note: East and West started in 1998, so this is 1975-1997 (don't think there were any state placers prior to 1975). And the weights were all different then, so I got creative with some weights, bumping guys up or down to put the best (IMO) lineup in.

106 - 103 Karl Grove 1 2
113 - 112 Tom Bell 6
120 - 119 Ron Dye 4
126 - 126 Tom Coffing 2 3 4

170 - 160 Toby Stewart 5
182 - 189 Keith Pennix 2 6
195 - 189 Ryan Root 3
220 - 215 Kevin Ward 4
285 - 275 Allan Goforth 5

State placers not listed above who deserve mention:
98 Jess Norton 5
98 & 105 Ken Farber 5 5
126 Rick Sutton 5
215 Shane Pearson 6

Don't know if I'm missing any others. I went thru the various years on the OHSAA site and did the best I could.

Your right coach, I was putting a list together and wasn't making it to be like a 1st team, 2nd, and 3rd. I was trying to flush out a certain someone to do this list. I do like his recent music video so he'll probably like this list. I'll make adjustments.

Seeing past state results, feels good seeing schools that aren't mentioned in wrestling today with the powerhouses were Titans back in the day. This might shock the newer generation:

Cincinnati Withrow was 4th at the 1972 state tournament and finished ahead of Maple Heights, St. Ed's, Elyria. Most only know Withrow because of Tyrone Hill and basketball. And one year, Cincinnati Greenhills was in D1, saw the state result/ forgot the year.

A few years only list top 4 are listed, even in years where they placed top 6. Don't know if I'm missing any others. I went thru the various years on the OHSAA site and did the best I could.

Many know of recent LaSalle wrestlers, but there were a TON of placers back in the 70's & 80's. That team would look really solid I'm sure.
