Looks to me like a classic case of a homer judge delaying the ruling on purpose so the kid can play. The trial was October 27, more than two full weeks ago. If he was going to rule in favor of the kid, he would've done so already. Delaying a ruling against them lets them keep playing.

And if they win the state title and then the judge rules him ineligible they have to forfeit. If the kid plays in the game that is.
Isn't this how it would play out if what you're suggesting is true and happens?
There are some scenarios were that would be the case, but this isn't one of them. That scenario only happens if the SCHOOL brings the lawsuit. this was brought by the parent. in fact, cardinal mooney is one of the defendants in the case with the OHSAA arguing the kid shouldn't be allowed to play. Because the school is actively defending the lawsuit, and because a judge ruled the kid can play, a forfeit would not happen.
Usually if you lawyer up and spend the money it's essentially a 'pay to play' situation.
If he is ruled ineligible what does it matter really?
It's not like they will do the whole playoffs over or anything.
