If the Republicans retake the House, I'd suggest they go scorched Earth. Constitutional amendments to set term limits for all national elected positions, balanced budgets, either flat tax or FairTax, repeal the 16th Amendment, only use census data on citizens to set representative apportionment and budget allocations, and end birthright citizenship. Make the government more responsible to the citizens.

Create a run-off protocol, from voting precinct up to Congressional district and to state, for the purpose of narrowing the field for elected Federal Offices, from Congressional Rep to US Senator to POTUS primary candidates. That is first and foremost.
Minimize Party campaign contributions. Legislate out of the Citizens United verdict. Those are #2 and 2A.
Then standardize political advertising. Only the candidate may speak for themselves on video or straight audio. Give them a choice of a few backgrounds to sit or stand in front of. No more shadow endorsement entities sending ugly imagery and sensational narratives. If the candidate isn't willing to read the copy, it doesn't belong. Print ads may have plain text and a pic of the candidate only.
Grant equal access after the first level of run-offs, regionalized like an amber alert or emergency broadcast alert parameters, enforced via the respective licensing processes including cable access and onto satellite and streaming (anything that has its own ads). These will be the only broadcast media ads. Make Liz Warren call Trump a racist herself.
This is the only way that each American can have an equal voice in today's world.
I'm all for a 2 year path to a balanced annual federal budget amendment, within the terms of the Reps that constitute the retaking of the House. The cut-back should be a little incremental.
Trump's tax changes were a good start. Don't get crazy here.

Citizen-only apportionment and districting is long over-due. Birthright citizenship and anchor-babies for illegals is absurd. If a man is here on a proper visa and has a child with an American woman, or if an American man has a child with a woman here on a legit visa, those situations need to be considered for "birthright" status. We should not force a marriage and American citizens' children should be on US soil for visitation if both parents want it that way.
So, you and I have some logical common ground, you greedy old elitist bastard. We can't be permitted to make our pots of gold under one paradigm, then flip the script and slam the door on it in retirement.

I really do think the 16th Amendment should be repealed because it sets up the stupid situation we have now and allows socialists and the like to try to appeal to stupid people in an insane attempt to claim power by using other people's money to buy off the electorate. If they had to actively write checks from their own accounts to buy votes it would be rightly recognized as illegal, but using other people's money to promise payoffs is perfectly legal since the 16th Amendment was passed (Vote for me and I'll rip off "only millionaires and billionaires" and give you some things we can buy with their money but prevent them from getting the same benefits).
Taxes are a necessary evil in a democracy (or even in a representative republic) to be collected to simply provide a revenue stream to the government for operations and not to pick winners or losers or equalize outcomes - and that's how they should be treated. Eliminate the 16th Amendment and Congress must levy taxes equally among everyone, so if it's important to buy a battleship to protect the country, everyone pays an equal share of that cost based on their income. If someone thinks healthcare is a "universal right" it's important that everyone pays their share and benefits equally.
Imagine Congress having to justify every dollar they spend because it's a dollar that comes out of everyone's pockets, not just the "wealthy" or the people that have certain types of income, but everyone. Imagine voters listening to politicians explain why they want a larger share of their income and the people understanding that they have to pay for those promises - is the return greater than the alleged investment. Imagine Sanders and Warren having to commit the income of children and grandchildren to provide a new benefit. And with a balanced budget amendment, imagine doing it in the context of paying for everything when the bills are due and not just pushing it off to someone that hasn't been born yet.

Looks like the Bill & Hillary road shows are coming to a close ........no more laundering money through a 501(c)3 to cover private jets, travel and living expenses. The remaining cash will not only have to be focused on keeping Bill and Hill out of jail, but also advancing Chelsea's career - whatever that may be. Watch for her. They may have a large enough pile for her to spend her time slowly doling it out, but eventually the ambitions of the Hildabeast will shift onto her daughter. It all depends upon whether or not Chelsea can or is willing to tak the heat. There will be heat.
