What prompted you to start posting on Yappi?

I’ll go first. I was in a New York hotel for 2 weeks for job training in 2011. Can’t recall how I found Yappi but had a bunch of downtime and was probably surfing the internet. As I recall my first post involved a discussion with another poster, a mother (who I think I knew) who was bragging about her club team and talking down about my daughter’s club. Needless to say we got into it a little bit. Later I moved on to mostly the HS Football forum. Didn’t discover the Debate forum til probably 5 years later.

What’s your story?

Started reading Yappi for HS sports freshman year of high school then created an account. School IT had the site blocked but we used proxy sites to get around that in the school libraries. Never even logged out of the school computers and I know for awhile two or three other guys would all post on this account :ROFLMAO:

I had read for a while, but the 2012 Ohio HS football playoffs got me started posting.

Ah the days of getting around blocked websites with proxies on school computers. Makes me nostalgic

I was bored in CAD class in HS at the start of sophomore year. I needed something to take my mind off the kid next to me who wouldn't stop singing 311

There were 10,000 Toledo St Johns and Massilon threads on JJhuddle and 0 on anything in southwest Ohio.

I was posting on JJ, but I heard there was a certified sports genius on Yappi who was willing to interact with us common folk on a regular basis. Turned out to be true. In fact, to this day I still am able to interact with the man known to us all as Brian.

It's a safe space to post opinions on sports. Part of being a fan is the ability to communicate your feelings about the teams, good and bad, or other topics that are generally interesting. Been on here for many years, much to some others dismay

I was "read only" for years. BUt I saw a void in the marketplace where this place needed Mr.Diamond badly. To teach .To share his wisdom of all things sports, politecs, and general. Mr Diamond correct the mistakes in a polite manner adn thus make all the forums all the threads stronger and with more factual content . Being a leader in here is doing everyone else a solid . Im like Trump , The president who takes 0 as my compensation in here . I am the Diamond ...you are all the velvet that surrounds me .

I had been following Yappi quite a bit while my son's team was being discussed on here regularly. Then one day I learned of serious infractions from neighboring school that had gone unreported. So I decided to drop the facts I had gathered on here. Immediate and successful denial was the result. I also remember one person in particular saying, "I'm sure you have a lot of interesting information, but I don't read posts longer than three sentences ".

So I began posting in the debate forum after that, just to sharpen my skills at dealing with quarrelsome people. Worked like a charm, as soon as I figured out I really don't matter to the average poster on here. I've hung around something like 12 years.
