What books are you reading in 2020?

I started reading King's books when they first came out and had read about 8 of them before "It". I only made it through about half of "It" before giving up and haven't picked up another of his books since. I did enjoy the early books.

Re-reading two from the Jack Reacher series "A Wanted Man" and "61 Hours". Also going thru a couple of Repairman Jack novels (F. Paul Wilson) for the second time, "Conspiracies" and "The Haunted Air"

And after finishing my first two books from Blake Crouch and getting hooked, I've got "Abandoned" and "Snowstorm" in the on-deck circle (aka, coffee table)

Good advice - I'll take it!

Just finished "Abandoned" - very disappointing. "Snowstorm" slightly less so. Not the techno-thrillers I thought they might be. More like "Die Hard" meets "Straw Dogs". Standard shoot-'em-ups with comically unlikeable villains.

Also finished "The Haunted Air". Part of it is a very interesting look into the world of fake mediums and how they ply their trade.

Been going through some graphic novels and paperbacks laying around the house.

Monster Earth: an anthology by a local writer and various comics related bloggers and such where monsters are the WMDs. Begins just pre-WWI in China and continues. Pretty enjoyable and well coordinated as the different authors wrote about different eras. Could have used a better spell checker. This one is words only but worth a read if you can find it.

Fables: comicbooks that came before that rip-off Once Upon a Time. Hitler type taking over many Fairy Tale Kingdoms, well researched as most I didn't know. They find escape through portals to here amongst us "mundies." Read the first book in the series, Legends in Exile which sets up a stand-alone," Last Castle" about the defense of the last remaining portal to the mundie world. It does heroism proud and introduces characters you knew and didn't know in that light.

getting into what’s called “Grit Lit”. Finished “Crimes in Southern Indiana” and “Donnybrook” by Frank Bill. Both definitely appeal to the more “base” instincts, but are still entertaining. I really don’t like fiction, but with tv & movies being so sanitized, I’m starting to come around a bit.
