Just finished American Predator by Maureen Callahan-chilling
Halfway through Deadly Cross by James Patterson
Both were Christmas gifts

Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719. The first edition credited the work's protagonist Robinson Crusoe as its author, leading many readers to believe he was a real person and the book a travelogue of true incidents. - Google

I know, it's a kids' book. That makes it about my speed. And, I like the big print and thinness.
 
Just finished "Pines", the first tome in the Wayward Pines trilogy by Blake Crouch. Pretty twisted!

The next two, "Wayward" and "Last Town", are on my lamp table, will begin tomorrow ......

Just finished book 3, "The Last Town". Wrapped up decently, if a bit maudlin and trite. But my curiosity still wonders what the outcome after the final page was.

Just finished "Branch Rickey" (2011) by Jimmy Breslin. The author says he was in high school the only time he actually spoke to Rickey.

Never read Breslin before. Used to see his column in the old Cols Citizen-Journal in the late 1970's. I didn't understand his vibe back then, much as I didn't understand Mike Royko's. But as a biography this reads well. Breslin does go off on some tangents to show historical threads that all connect, with the nexus being the signing of Jackie Robinson and breaking baseball's color barrier. Among the threads are short vignettes on Mario Cuomo, Dizzy Dean, Barack Obama Sr.; and Richard Nixon.
